Option for DLC weapons to not be free
Is there any way for DLC weapons to follow the same logic as the other guns (require xp/money to unlock)?
I have all the DLC, but I don't want to just get every weapon for free in the beginning of a new game... I want to unlock them as I play.

There is a mod on Nexus which does this, at least there was last time I checked.

I hope this is not against the rules:

I have not used, tested or verified this mod. I only know it exists. Please back up your files before using any mods.

This has been tossed around a few times and the only way to appease both sides of the argument would be to make it an on/off toggle.

Seems like it needs to be updated every time there's a patch, and the last update was last year. I'll keep my eye on it and try it out if it gets updated, thanks.

That's what I'm asking for...

I recently felt the urge to play the game again... was this ever addressed? Or are all DLC weapons still free?

Yes, sadly. I wish too that you had to "work" for these weapons.

This does not address the question, sorry about that. I thought I would share this as you seem to enjoy working for your weapons.
There are a few maps that have missions to unlock weapons. One in particular I enjoyed was the Medved Taiga to unlock the Grankin Shotgun.

They are all still free.

However, one way that kind of "simulates" this is to come up with a price you think is reasonable (and there are charts floating around with some suggestions), and then "pay" the fee by shooting worthless animals (like does) and taxiderying them as the rough equivalent of that fee, then deleting them. Once the money is spent, you can then claim the weapon from the store.

Yes, I know it is a bit of a faff and most people will not bother, but at least some money is spent if you want to do that.

You could write up a price list yourself and only buy the weapons when you've banked a certain amount of money, rifle score or character level. Then just flush that money away by buying weapon, hunter or binocular customisations you never intend to use -- or doggy treats.

It's not ideal, but an RP work around.

That doesnt work if you have lack of self-control to begin with...which is what this topic, and every preceding thread on it, has been about.
