Hope #6 No blacktail deer! Should a I reset the animal file?
Okay. I have complete this mission before a couple of times in 2020, and it was not that hard. There were lots of blacktails down along the river at night and I had no trouble finding a 200-yard shot. I have been at this mission now for the third time for several days, and I swear there are no blacktail anywhere in the region. I have spent several in-game day circling the whole parameter many times and crisscrossing the mission zone area. I only found one blacktail in all this time on the far southern end in a deep forested area where there is no possible way to get a 40-yard shot, much less a 200-yard shot. I have killed every living thing within 500 yards of the outer parameter of the zone creating hunting pressure for days.

I think I need to reset the animals in this zone. I know some have said the deleting the animal file will reset all the animals and cause them to respawn. I just want to get the latest information on this to make sure that is still safe to do and that I do it right.

You shouldn't.
We choose to do missions, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win.

The problem with that mission is that they Moved the need zones for deer. No longer at waters edge they are in the tree line and bushes at least 50m away from water. So you have to find the need zone with deer then find a 200m firing point that has a clear view which is the hard part.

You did not read my OP very well. It is not that it is difficult. It is impossible. There are no blacktail within the zone or 500 yards outside the zone. NONE! I have spent more than a week of in-game time crisscrossing the map at every hour of the day looks for a SINGLE TRACK!

I cannot shoot what does not exist. Now the issue may be that I have hunted this region quite heavily way before I got to this mission. It may be that I have utterly wiped out all blacktail deer during previous missions. I don't know why there is no blacktail in its region, but they simply do not exist in the zone or anywhere within 500 yards of it. Not even their tracks exist, at any time of day or night.

There is not a single Blacktail Need zone in the entire region or within 500 yards of the mission zone. Not a single Blacktail Need zone, Rest Zone, or Watering Zone. There are tons of whitetail zones, black bear zone, rabbit zones, but not a single blacktail deer zone.

Ok, here is my advice: Concentrate on the western half of the mission area during resting time. If all fails, try to kill blacktails in other areas, they are bound to re-spawn in the mission area sooner or later.

I had some "impossible" missions. They all could be solved by:
- spook the game into the desired zone, with the ATV e.g.
- lure the game into the zone
- put hunting pressure outsite (works not so well for me to be honest)
understanding that waiting for the correct times has not worked.

Hello. I use google translator.
I had the same problem. The solution is quite simple.
Clean the press in the mission area. To do this, kill animals in other locations. The fastest is to kill the mallard.
After that, close to the mission area, from 5 pm to 9 pm, remove the deer watering places. It was enough for me to clean the deer watering places on the lake. The lake is on the left in your screenshot. After that, the watering hole moved to the mission area.
In general, you just need to remove the deer watering places if they are not in the mission zone. Also, do not create a press in her area.

Thanks for the help. I will give these a try and see if I can finish it. I'll let you know.

The thing about need zones is that they only show what species last fed/drank/rested at that particular glowing weed or track circle we investigated. Not what fed/drank/rested at that spot a half hour earlier or even at the same time. I completed this mission about a month ago by harvesting a Blacktail doe mixed in with a herd of 12 Whitetails. I didn't go into the area looking for Blacktail sign. I went in looking for any kind of deer sign. Elk, Moose, Whitetail any or all of the above was fine by me. Found 1 whitetail track (very old) at a river crossing area so I set my tripod up at 225 meters from the center of the crossing. Went back the next morning and at 0615 hrs it was BANG, mission accomplished.

Okay. I took a day but I got those need zone cleared from the lake.

As you can see, I have stacked the Need Zones down along the river. None of them are Blacktail Need Zones, but hopefully, with time some blacktail will be encouraged to spawn down there.

you did everything right. my black-tailed deer have changed their position where your tent is. move the tent to the bridge itself. and rewind time to their watering hole. you will just see them from above at the right distance.
they can also be across the river from your tent. where is someone else's place to rest on your map.
p.s.1: Due to the fact that the watering area has changed. Better to change the time 30 minutes before their watering hole. 16-30. Since the deer start to migrate through the mission area.
p.s.2: The best view from the top peak is looking at the map. The tent should be placed there.

Thanks. So far I have not found a blacktail deer Need zone of any kind after I cleared the ones by the west lake. In spite of me stacking the needs zones near the east side of the map, there are still few animals in the area. Most of the need zones you see are made by the same animal, one bear, one moose, two jackrabbits, and a couple of whitetail deer. I am letting the area rest for a while to see if the animal population will recuperate some.

Due to the fact that they moved the need zone. In the best case, there will be a need zone in the mission area. But it should be enough if they migrate through the mission area. Just consider the time. from 4 pm they can already migrate through the mission zone.

Well, it did not work. I went back to the lake and all three Need zone were back in spite of bright pink hunting presser color still there. Haad to kill of the deer all over again to clear the need zones.

It’s a pity that it didn’t work. I can only advise you to remove not all three drinking zones, but only one. Also see the drinking areas above the mission area. No need to kill all the deer herd. Three / four animals are enough for the zones to disappear from the map.
