Yeah, can't do that in game if you want the full score on an animal.
At best the game is a sim-cade. There is a lot of arcade-ish features that got stuck in it so the game appeals to a wider audience. One of the bigger problems the devs have is balancing real sim versus arcade shooter. It's a shame there wasn't some sort of toggle or sliders to custom setup the game for simulator versus arcade.
This doesn't sound like a shot most hunters would take in real life.
