How greedy devs are?
Really? scopes that should be in base game are dlc?!?! thats just too much... I understand new reserves or even weapons but thats just whole new level of greed.

I’m fine with greedy devs as long as they properly support their product—but that’s exactly what we don’t see here.

Most dlc's have mixed reviews (most of them complaining how bad they are done) even the reserves have a lot of complains how many bugs there are during certain mission (which I can confirm) So its not fine when devs cant make players happy and release a pile of ♥♥♥♥ just to gain cash.

There are already perectly working scopes in the base game - if you desperatly need more of them for ... well, for what? Pay for them! Or just don't.

You're talking like money has no value, some people simply cant afford or have much more important things to spend money on than dlc where half users who bought it complain about the quality of it. Personally I want only ONE scope from that dlc yet I must pay full price for things I dont want.

No one is forced to buy anything.

Because the world is full of people like you who think others' work should be handed to you for free. Most negative reviews are not because of substandard quality as you seem to be claiming, but for lack of perceived value, because it isn't free.

What you are talking about are individual cases, most opinions say exactly what I wrote - lack of quality (bugs, poorly made dlc, errors). Besides, "bug threads" with over 10k posts says everything, everything in these threads concerns the game - including dlc, you wrote that "Because the world is full of people like you who think others' work should be handed to you for free" I think you have problems with reading because in the thread I clearly wrote that I understand some dlc such as reserves or weapons, the only thing I disagree with is so simple things like scopes being paid dlc, before you write such nonsense please read carefully and analyze the words 🤨

If the base game was $60 I would agree but considering the base game and DLC's go on sale between 20-70% off frequently it's really not that big of a deal. If you don't want to pay full price wait for a sale.

My country's currency is very weak which makes everything on steam very expensive for me, I think the devs can set the price in a given country due to currency/inflation but I'm not sure.

Yes this game has pricing per region. For example, in my country, while on sale it is the equivalent of 5 USD. Meanwhile, in Philippine would be 3 USD. That's a 20% difference between the two countries.

Woth has, and UH will have, a far superior selection of scopes included in their base game.

(im speaking about rifles) There were 3 scopes, 3... that weren't all that well done to begin with. Now we get to pay 5$ for one new scope and some crappy reticles. none of them are illuminated except the cross bow one, which is terrible for the rifles. WOTH even has a FFP scope. I have no use for night vision or a handgun scope.

In a game like this, I am fine with the DLC route they have taken..
You dont need all of them to enjoy the game, but later on if you want to spice up your game with new content you can.

I have bought a few DLCs and I will probably buy some more soon.
The Flaming Pike Nov 5, 2024 @ 9:37am
I don't really have an issue with the concept of DLCs but I have an issue with DLCs that are lackluster or contain serious glitches upon release. This is what's keeping me from giving the game ( and some of its DLCs ) thumbs ups. Many map DLCs in COTW are like that. They add content and often times there are issues that they just decide to ignore instead of fixing them, and some issues last for a very, very long time, or aren't even addressed at all. Bird AI ( fixed but took a long time ) and the Yukon Valley wolves AI failures, the dog getting stuck ( never was fixed ) is a good example of what I'm talking about.

As for OP's complain about scopes, I disagree. The base game has everything you need to hunt... The weapon-focused DLCs are the lesser issue IMO, they just make you more overpowered and make the kills easier but they don't prevent you from enjoying the game if you don't have them.

The only DLC that shouldn't be a DLC is the ATV. Now here is a DLC that prevents you from enjoying the game if you didn't buy it. I think it's ridiculous that they made huge maps and that without the ATV you may never fully explore the maps.

I find the pricing of the DLC actually decent, especially for 2024. When I compare with other DLC-heavy games like Stellaris, Crusader Kings, etc. it's really not that bad. As others have said, when the game is on sale it's a pretty solid deal. So I'm not sure I'd call them greedy. Maybe lazy. I can't really find the correct word. It's like they want to move on before they're done with the stuff they release. Time and time again.

You can fast travel between points, so the ATV is not a must imo.. I have used it.. but i havent used it much.

You can't fast travel unless you walked to the location first... How many maps have you played on? If you uncovered most of them by walking, you are very patient. :lunar2020contentgoat:
