Could someone explain a dogs job level?

My dogs level 30 (the one with perks) and it wont allow me to unlock the expert hunting dog trait which is meant to unlock at level 15.

is it affected by something else?

I also see the companion and tracker level, is it the tracker level?

There's two different level types. The dog's dog level, which is the perks. And the dog's Job level, which is Tracker/Pointer/Retriever. You need to level the Job level to 15, which is the max for a job, in order to unlock the second job.

Thank you and I realized that until this update my dogs tracker skill progression was broken and only started working again now, I wasn't able to level it past a certain level until this recent update, I think it was stuck on 3 or something.
