Also, the 338 is really heavy. That is why I don't incorporate it into many of my builds. I used it early on before I had more choices. The 7mm is super flexible and I used it early on until I had more choices. I think I wasn't very good at the time that I was using the 7mm and I struggled with bigger game that required accurate shots because I was still learning animal anatomy (and maybe because the rifle is listed as a 35 accuracy). But if you want a gun that covers a big category range the 7mm is capable. It just won't stop larger animals in their tracks like some of the other choices unless you have good shot placement. So it might depend on your skill level at this time.
