Distance within which animals disappear
Hi everyone, i have played The Hunter Classic for many years and i remember that in this game after a certain distance (around 250 meters) animals would become invisible. They would still exist and move on the map, but you couldn't see them even with binoculars because they weren't rendered. However, I think this might have changed recently, because yesterday I tried playing after many years and I saw an animal over 300 meters away, so the distance must have been increased. I wanted to ask if there is also a maximum distance in Call of the Wild after which animals are no longer rendered (while still existing and moving on the map), and if so, what is this distance? Does anyone know anything about this?

The render distance in Cotw is at 430 meters.

Yes, we all know about this LOL.
Animals are no longer rendered when they are more than 400-450m away (it seems to vary a bit, depending on what's in your line of sight, perhaps the amount of lighting or fog..)
You can easily see this happening - get high up in the mountains or a lookout tower where you have a clear view all the way out to 500m and beyond, and not too much in the way of heavily forested areas around you. The Africa Map is pretty good for this, since it has so much open savanna, but any reserve will do. You just watch them with range-finding binoculars and when they get far enough away - poof! they're gone.

When animals just go Poof, check and see if Voldemort is around.

When i was testing the render distance couple of years ago, my conclusions were that it depends on:
1) The 'scene complexity' setting.
2) The type of the animal. Small animals have shorter render distance (not 100% sure about that right now).
3) The perceived distance to the animal. An invisible animal to the naked eye, might be rendered if viewed through scopes.

Max render distance is what everyone else already said, around 400-450m.

Thank you all for the responses. For years i played with a render distance of just 200 meters without knowing about this limitation, and every time i looked through the binoculars for example at a valley, i always wondered why i was so unlucky to never spot an animal in the distance. When, after years, i found out about the 200 meters limitation i was quite disappointed... so i asked you this question because i was pretty concerned about this topic ahahaha.
I think 400-450 meters is reasonable, but 200 meters (to be precise, i seem to remember it was 220 meters) were really too few

The maximum render distance for animals is increasing the higher you are (when looking down from a mountain for example).
