Geese and hunting pressure
Does hunting pressure affect how geese come in at all or not? As in, do I need to have several goose spots set up so I can rotate between them and have geese all the time?

It doesn't really seem to effect them. With that said... I do still enjoy having a few spots to jump between just to keep it more active and also so I can pluck off other things wandering around. Once in awhile you can get a very nice animal just walking by your spots. I usually spend a day at most in one spot then move on to the next.

geese will not be affected by your huge pink killing field if you grind them. they will come in. 'land' animals will avoid your pink kill zone. if several flocks come by at the same time it is possible many or all will go away because the area is crowded.

Okay, thanks for the answers. I may set up a second spot, but it's nice to know that I can keep using my favorite spot.

But it will wipe out other need zones. Or this only applies to the ducks?
I am not sure now about geese but hunting ducks killed some of my need zones and it is very easy to go from zero to max hunting pressure

Hunting pressure from geese will certainly wipe out other need zones, but I don't have other animal zones close to my goose spots, so I don't have to be careful. I also use a tripod for goose hunting, so even if I wanted to be careful about not wiping out need zones I could still shoot 15 geese before having to move to another location.

HP does not keep ducks or geese from coming in, but L4 HP will wipe out ALL need zones in the bright pink area. That being said, the duck AI is broken for a long time & you won't get them coming in to the caller. AFAIK geese are working fine.

Wait, so why the hell am I hunting ducks if the geese aint broken?
So I can setup my geese decoys where I deem fit, call them in and repeat?

yep, use the straw fields, set some decoys, a tent and blind and call them in. i have best luck from 6 to 7am until about noon. i rarely get any flocks of geese after noon.

You can set up goose decoys in the straw or corn fields. I prefer straw bc the ground visibility is better. Use 20 decoys for max attraction. Daylight hours are best so you can see to shoot them. If you shoulder your weapon (even in a blind) while they are coming in, they usually will spook b4 landing & head back skyward. Even so, they are skittish & don't always land.

Be aware that unlike ducks, geese can get wounded, fly off & die. And you loose CH if you are unable to find them all. I have had them fly 335 m b4 going down. So, if you wing one & he keeps flying, take a quick follow up shot. If he is still flying, quickly switch to a rifle w scope. Spot him & follow him w the scope until he goes down. Then, pull up the map & place your marker on the green "last spotted" icon. And go collect him. I used to loose CH to geese all the time. . .but not anymore.

If you shoot them while they are on the ground they will sometimes simply dig down into the earth and fly around. I have watched the straw flatten and leave a trail as they flew through the soil beneath. That was happening before the last patch so it's not patch related.

I heard of these subterranean avians, but have not seen them yet.

Are geese or ducks a decent way to grind points on your pistol, with the .22?

If you are quick shot then definitely yes. And you have proper DLC (geese bait and blind). Geese will land often close to you so you will get time for few shots. I do not have that pistol so I do not know its range and available sights but eventually you can even shoot geese flying away once you spook them.
I have never tried duck baits but I shot them with .22 rifle - but shooting distance is often from 60 to 100 meters.

I had some luck with decoys and caller, getting them into 50m range; I definitely need to practice on my iron sights skills--my hunting pressure isn't even a little pink yet.

So it isn't just me? Ducks are broken! My two boys and I spent all our currency for calls' decoys' and blinds for some duck hunting and they just totally ignore us. Finally my youngest son loses interest and goes to minecraft and my oldest son and I start lobbing .243 rounds at them from 300 meters....
