Brain is not a vital organ?
I just kill a boar for a medved quest... And i dont pass the kill check cause "Brain" is not a vital organ... can somebody explain this?

I know that shot to the head is not ideal, but when they ask for a clean kill without touching the lungs its a bit crazy to expect i only hit the heart without damaging the lungs...

Brain is a vital organ, I can clearly see in the picture you posted that it counted as a vital organ but you didn't pass the harvest check because you damaged the trophy organ (skull). For that mission you need to hit either heart or liver.

I myself was surprised to kill several LEGENDARY animals and get only gold, 2 of them had shots to the lungs.
This game is getting harder and harder to understand.
A shot to the brain doesn't give a shot to a vital organ ??????
A shot at a turkey's paw counts as a vital organ !
This is ridiculous.

Best way to complete this mission is to aim for neck if you hit spine between head and shoulder you will pass vital organ

The skull is considered to be a trophy organ (not to be confused with a "vital organ") since it is where antlers/horns are attached or the measurement of the skull itself is required to determine the animals trophy score. Damaging the trophy organ will result in harvest check failure. In plain English it means that head shots are out when it comes to Lions (African or Mountain), Puma, all species of Bears and all species that have horns or antlers (regardless of gender).

Some species are scored by weight (rabbits, jackals, coyotes, ducks, geese, turkeys and fox), They do not have a trophy organ (primarily due to the extreme difficulty we'd have hitting the heart, lung or liver on them) so shoot them anywhere you like.

All other animals require you to hit a vital organ (the heart, lung, liver) or to break the animals neck in order to pass the harvest check. Use the correct ammo for the animals class and don't shoot it more than twice.

Those are the rules. They are not difficult to understand.

Those missions that require harvesting animals with undamaged lungs are challenging, but doable.

My brain is not a vital organ. I can live without it.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

foxes and coyotes and jackals have skulls as a trophy organ so you are wrong about shooting them anywhere.

I do not know the requirement for the mission but no - brain is not considered proper shot placement which is to my knowledge consistent with the real world hunting.
Also as it was said - you damaged trophy thus these 2 failures caused you to fail the check

If you cannot hit the lungs you have 2 options left (yes, heart and no lungs at the same time is extremly lucky shot) - shoot for the liver (risk of the either lung shot or intestines only) or the neck spine. Neck spine is valid vital shot compared to the back spine.

As your screenshot says.... you damaged the trophy organ (the skull). That is what caused you to fail the checks.

Just an FYI, real hunters seldom even consider a head shot.

Thank you for your answers guys!
So, the problem was not "not hiting a vital organ", I just Wreck the thropy...

Good hunting!
