BUFFALO HAVEN
For you Buffalo hunters out there I came across this location and was pleasantly surprised to find alot more buffalo roaming here than anywhere else I've been.

Theres a small lake just east of Spreeberg Outpost.

I wandered down to it today without having any zones around and not being familiar with that location. On the side closest to the OP I began to cross the split roadway at the same time a herd was strolling from the lake toward me.

Great timing I'll admit bit after taking a couple of those I could hear more bawling all around that lake. I knew there had to be multiple herds to be present across such an expanse.

So I ventured further to immediately come upon another herd and a couple resting zones. As I took down a couple of that group bawling from the other side of the lake nearer the road led me to my greatest reward.

A few years ago in northern Hersch I lucked out with a white buffalo, but it was a small cow. Today as I snuck along the lakes beach I looked ahead about 70 yards and just spotted a white rump of fur teasingly disappearing instantly behind the cover of low hanging conifer branches.

After years of hoping to find another White Buffalo here it was. But as I ducked into cover hoping not to spook it I realized the wind was NOT in my favor. Figgers!

So I tried to remain in cover and crawl into a position where I could actually spot the rare trophy. Hopefully it would be a giant bull.

But I couldn't see it. It disappeared like the white ghost it was. And there were so many tracks around I had no idea which were It's. I had an idea its direction but knew from experience that changes at any time. Especially if an animal feels spooked.

I didnt want to lose it, but I was crawling, vulnerable to the many other hooves present all around me.

And without a nearby tent, or a medkit, I knew getting trampled could cause me to lose this animal.

I also knew that wasting too much time crawling downwind might allow it to get too far away. High level rares can actually stop leaving sign as they escape.

I had to act and risk spooking it while I knew there was still a chance it hadn't gone too far, as it was only slowly walking out of sight at first encounter.

I crouched along in the direction it went, with my scent blowing right toward where I thought it was, and after about 5 minutes got it in my sights laying in a hollow with just the white tip of its shoulder hump showing. FIGGERs!

It was a level 4 bull. I am ecstatic.

About 50 yards Downwind of me I had no choice but to stand and take what shot I could. I feared the next breeze would be my last chance at it.

I shoot the 300 and knew I hit it but it fled quickly not allowing the second shot I hoped for.

I quickly picked up the trail and after another 5 minutes I spotted it again at about 50 yards but I was looking right up its butt as it began to duck over a hill.

I've lost trophies before by waiting for better shots, and I thought at this range and sraight-on line of sight my polymer should travel right into vitals easily.

Aimed right at the anus, shot , and down he went.

Finally got my White Buffalo Bull.

Now, I just need that larger white bull to brag about and show off at the lodge.

This place is a buffalo hunters dream!

Nice hunting trip you made
Yes, the area you mention on Hirschfeld Spreeberg is known to be a buffalo spot.
Mainly I have never seen big buffalo or albino buffalo in this area, the biggest one I saw was a level 4.
The most beautiful bison I have hunted were at SRP (diamonds and albino) and always in the late evening.

Am liking your new avatar.

I was working the area around that outpost. The larger funny shaped lake on the western side of the outpost also has quite a few need zones.

IIRC you are partial to red deer. On the far western side of the lake, you will find a need zone for the red deer. There is also need zone for fallow deer & bison on the eastern side of the lake, just not as close.

If you take the scenic route over the mountain on your way to the lake, you will find a couple of more need zones for bison at the top.

My son always complained that we were supposed to be hunting, not mountain climbing.

Enjoy.....

Ty ghost, gonna check that out right now just to pass some pressure time and maybe get a few kills too.

Need to relieve pressure round my hotspots.

And yeah, am finding these buffalo are not evolved from the prairies lol.

Drink then climb seems to be their instinctive traits.
