In my game i can get 2 flights per spread beginning at 0430 and lasting until 0700 or so. They might still fly in after 0700 but that''s when I quit the geese and go to Tel A reserve to kill Red Deer until 1000 hrs. I can normally bag 2-4 geese per spread and hit 3 spreads in a single morning (0430-0700). Goose hunting in this game is not an "all day long" kind of thing. Noon to 1500 is pretty much dead for all critters except blacktailed deer. I use the mouth caller for geese and with the set-up I've described I don't have a ton of geese landing on top of me instead of over the decoys. Be warned, it's not uncommon for geese to land about 150 meters from my tripod and then wander in a bit closer to the spread. Hunting pressure will not prevent geese from coming into range and for some reason Roe deer wander in more frequently when I use the goose caller. You might have to experiment when it comes to which straw fields you set yourself up on. Not all such fields are used by geese on a regular basis. You'll know you've got a good spot when you have fox, geese, roe, fallow and even an occasional pig or red deer also wander through it. If those other species are going to show up it normally happens prior to 0745. Hope this helps.
Test it. Geese don´t sit around next to decoys, they usually start moving towards the decoys, when you leave the tent. Most flocks have to be lured in first and the tent doesn´t bother them. Furthermore, the "first free rifle" (Ranger .243) is class 2-6, the Docent .223 class 2-4. You don´t pass the harvest check, when you shoot Geese with these weapons. Therefore you will loose money and medals. Don´t give advice, if you´re clueless,
I think they meant the presence of a tent in the area doesn't affect animals. As opposed to the actual setting up, or spawning into when fast travelling or resting.
i saw a video of a player hunting geese, even when he fires the shots, the geese dont escape, they stay near him and keep eating, me when i fire a shot, they all fly and escape
I would take the tripod instead of the blind (incognito deluxe), because you can oversee the whole area. The layout float blind (from the Revontuli DLC) is something else and used for Duck hunting. Ducks only land on water and on the nearby coasts, so you need different approaches there. People usually hunt Geese on land...I have never tried hunting them on water.
Geese and Duck hunting was nerfed several times, maybe this video is very old and shows broken or bugged Geese. The Geese spooking, when you shoot one, is normal now. Geese hunting was very easy in former times, now it needs some skill. If you are quick, you can shoot a second and a third Goose with the shotgun, when they are still on the ground. This is probably easier with a tripod, than with a blind. When they fly away, you can shoot at them with the .22 and maybe get a third (or fourth) Goose - shooting at flying Geese is also not easy and needs skill. But more than 2-4 shot Geese per flock is simply not realistic.
Good to hear. You just have to consider, that you quickly create hunting pressure, when you shoot from a casual rock. This doesn´t affect the luring in of animals, but you will delete the need zones in the area, if you shoot more than three Geese on one spot, which easily happens. If you are shooting from a structure, you are allowed to kill 14 animals, until you create hunting pressure.
Quick question, how do you eleveate the hunting pressure in a zone you are hunting like every day? Mt goose spot is so purple lol.
If hunting pressure builds up in one place high enough, the Need Zones in the area will be removed. This simulates Animals being too scared to feed, drink or rest in that area. There is a 0.25 multiplier if an animal is shot with a bow, or from Hunting Structures. These multipliers are stackable. If four undiminished hunting pressure are stacked on Need Zones, it will be deleted. There is a limited number of hunting pressures that can be on one map (10 is the max amount of hunting pressures). Hunting pressure will disappear as it builds up elsewhere in the reserve. It is illustrated by a colored (grayish violet to glaring pink) field on the map. Different intensities of pressure can be distinguished based on the shade of purple of a particular area.
So you have to go hunt in other areas to built the hunting pressure elsewhere, and you will find that it is reduced in the area that was purple.
@OP:
When shooting geese with shotguns, you can have two loaded ones at the ready in your inventory and deactivate automatic reloading (so you don't get caught up in the reloading animation). This way, you can switch directly and pick off a good number before switching to the .22. I think geese are flying a bit quicker now than what I'm used to, though, so this might not work as well as it once did.
