Tent Distance To Decoys
So I am watching some YT Videos, and the content creators put their decoys in a open field on Hersch.

Then about 40m back they put a blind or form of hiding. Then right behind the 40m mark at about 50m, they have the tent down??

The Geese still land on the Decoys 50m away from Tent. So just wondering what is the spook radius of the tent when it is erect?

I saw video where creator said 300m is safe because closer animals dont spawn

On Hirsch I have my tent on edge of field near tower blind, decoys out in front. I also have 1 goose blind and an open top blind. The geese still drop into the field. The tent is well within .22LR range and extreme shotgun range.

The tents don't spook animals just standing there, only when you fast travel to them or build them.
As you'll usually call in new flocks and they supposedly spot decoys from a great distance as well, the fast travel spook doesn't matter too much. So if you wanted, you could place your tent right next to the decoys unless things have changed in the meantime.

Tents don't spook animals, i just put them down any where i want to.

Yeah, the tents (and ATV) only spook animals when they're used in certain ways:

Tent: fast travel or assemble/disassembled
ATV: the moment you sit on it

Other than that the animals will run straight into them and not even care

There used to be a factor involved where birds had to have a specific amount of landing room available for the entire flock or that flock would pass it up.

I would notice this when setting up on beaches where each decoy you place takes up a certain amount of that needed space. And by the time you set out a dozen decoys, there's not enough room left for a flock to land. You can't judge this visually. Just because it looks like there's lots of room for a decoy setup doesn't mean there aren't restrictive mechanics involved.

Alot of changes have been made to waterfowling, and many videos are outdated.

Birds aren't spooked by already placed structures, but be aware that there is a bit of a waiting period after setting up a stand/blind where animals will not approach, and that unspecified time period/cooldown is not superceded by restarting a session or time travel/resting. It only counts down while in-game time passes, typically 15 minutes, but also, IMO, depending on degree of hunting pressure in that location.

So don't not just lay out decoys and stands and think something is wrong just because you don't get immediate results. Need Zone timing is also critical just as with other animals. You need to be aware of the types of nearby zones so you can know what to expect.

Another consideration is your shotgun range, and having birds be out of range because they're landing on far side of decoys.

We already discussed that in the past, and when I tested it, there was no waiting time after setting up a mobile hunting structure. The animals returned in the same timeframe as when they spook for a different reason (if they weren't agitated previously). To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to preserve the setting up time of a structure or current attentiveness of the animals between sessions. Animals often need time to approach the location they were occupying when the game was shut down anew, though.
All of this can be easily tested/disproved if you think it has changed.

Not sure about the decoys taking up actual space, either. I don't think they have collissions and at least on land, birds were always happy to land and walk among them. Maybe that was different before or after, though.

As for the water, it might be simply a case of where the decoys can be set up and where the birds can land and swim around. The area where you can set up decoys is close to the shore and the area where birds land a bit farther out, with little overlap, if any.

Hi 'ULTRA' ,

Absolutely Correct!

Fast travel to tent spook radius must have been reduced lately, today i placed a tent 280m away from a drink zone and i fast traveled twice there and found the animals calmly drinking, i think its 250 now maybe less.

We *really* need a wiki with updated articles on all these issues...
