Day 1 in Napal, killed by a tiger
By the time I heard the tiger, it was too late. I was quietly crouch-walking across an open area of low grass, 10mm in hand. I heard a growl directly behind me and was turning quickly to fire, but I became cat food instead. Not wounded, instant death. Nothing like a wolf pack attack. I wonder if the game plays fair and the tigers actually stalk you, or if they just spawn in close behind you? Finally an OP predator in the game! PS, nice map so far, welcome to Sundarpatan!

Same here ;) very similar story. Day 2 though: I tracked IT instead and killed it. the fact that it was just a lowly female, I fear what the harder ones will do to me :D

THIS is exactly like it should be.

I personally don't care, if the GameAI pretends to stalk you for 5 min or just spawns and instakills you. This is the 'Alien Isolation' game for the non SciFi audience.

Usually, I just use this game as a walking-simulator (never shoot anything) ... but, now I might just indulge myself in this guilty pleasure. A predator that has a chance to fight back? A worthy challenge!

I care if the Tiger just growls for half an hour like the unbearable mountain lions. if it is quiet and kills me quickly that sounds like a huge improvement actually

Have to chime in here 😁

I had quite a long encounter with my "first" tiger. Hanging out in the low lands following the first part of the story while a flock of water buffalo drew my attention away from the mission.

Set out to map their behavior and after the first waterhole was marked on the map they took off to eat or sleep somewhere. While travelling (me stalking behind the flock) we came across a dense and uncomfortable tall grass area and sun was setting. Pulled up my binos to finally see the cows had stopped and I could map a feeding area. At that moment my dog started to growl anxiously and let out a defensive bark. I watched him to get the direction of the threat. Straight into the tall grass. Cant see nothing... lol. A buffalo left behind the flock?

Heard nothing. Heard nothing. Then silent footsteps. Then nothing. Then a shivering growl. It was not a water buffalo.

I retreated backwards slowly and silently (crouched). Told my dog to stay put. Came out of the tall grass and saw the top back of a big cat moving through the grass as a shadow, circling me on the right. I checked my magazine and hit the floor. My dog went crazy, barking and growling. I could not see much. Silence. Waited, and waited. Silence.

A cow decided to break the silence since it's mating season. Ok, where's the tiger?
I called in my dog and started out sneaking down the direction of the cat. Found two fresh tracks of him and then nothing. It was getting dark and I started to look for a place to spend the night. I decided to leave the cows and their business and head back to the mission next morning. But the day was not over. As I was looking for good tent spots, my dog barked again. Oh!

Shortly after, a predator growl from somewhere. Where? Not much daylight left. Out of pure luck, I spotted the cat moving slowly perpendicular to my position between a few trees downhill from me. It was the backdrop of a river that revealed his profile. He stopped. I put down my binos, picked up my Grelck Drilling piece, snapped on the Falcon sight and took down that cat on the spot with an echoing double lung shot.

Did not need my dog to find him. He was right there. As a bonus, it turns out it was a Gold rated tiger, and it was also my first animal I harvested at Sundarpatan!

They have snarled each time before attacking me and its the only reason I know they were there, other than my blood hound barking otherwise.
2 Tigers within 700m of each other also... I must of been at the border of an aera or something.

I heard my tiger first, but didn't see it, so i shot in the air to try and frighten it since i couldn't see it, then I walked away and followed some buffalo and 700m away was another tiger... at first i thought it was the same one, but no, the area had 2.

my first tiger was with me running through the forest to get to my first outpost to get a gun for the floofy hares and for the geese and all of a sudden, a growl...
Because i was surrounded by brush i had no idea where it was until i was dead.
SO COOL
