COTW reset of hits?

Hey,
I just found my first save diamond Cape Buffalo and i shot him two times whitout a vital hit, because I got attacked from his friends. He didn t die. I never failed a diamond before whitout killing it, so I need to know, if the hits i gave him will reset after time or if the trophy is lost for ever?

A Cape Buffalo is a tough animal and can survive two flesh hits without dying. If you didn´t kill him, he should still be on your map. When you restart the game, all animals, that were wounded and not killed, are healed up again.

He might even be in the same vicinity tomorrow as he was when you first hit him today and at about the same time of day. Well worth having a looksee.
