What Is With These Beavers
I am in Petershain at coordinates -5412, 8562. I have a tree stand there on the edge of some cornfields. 2 out of the last 3 times I start the game I am informed that beavers have destroyed my tree stand. What is a beaver doing in a cornfield where there is no water around? This seems a it silly to me...

Move your tent farther from your tree stand. Approximately 160 meters or so. :spintires_logs:

OK, but how are those 2 things related?
Goltzhar May 14, 2020 @ 5:04am
Related? Features that no one wants but implemented anyways .... like the disappearing tracks/blood splatter, trophys disappearing from lodges and many many things that seems to be implemented by patches and "fixes" and more features are implemented every time a DLC comes out and then they have to "fix/patch" those and when they do they seem to implement more features that no one wants... and this goes on and on and on.

The beavers are just an indicator that the game had a problem with the object you placed, as far as I understand it at least.

If you place your tents and stands in very close proximity to trees, in steep terrain or too close to big rocks or something else that might interfere with the tent/stand/whatever the beavers come and destroy it.
I'm no programmer so I don't know for sure, but my guess is that they implemented this feature in order to not have (visual) bugs with these objects and the surrounding terrain.

I have never had problems with the beavers when my tents were out in the open and on flat terrain. As for the tree stands: I unfortunately do not know which trees are "beaver safe" and which ones are not, but I believe that I read somewhere in the forum that some trees work better for the stands than others - maybe just try out other trees in that area.

I've never used the tree stands because of all the complaints about them that I've seen in the forums. I HAVE used the tripods though and had many of those destroyed by the invisible beavers. I've place them on mountain tops and roads where there were absolutely no trees and still get attacked by beavers. That's the reason I recommend to my friends that they do not purchase that DLC. Frankly, I've come to the opinion that the devs have done this as some sort of joke on us. I live in a rural area where there is an abundance of deer, tree stands, ground blinds and beaver, etc, and beavers just never cause these kinds of issues.

You never heard of corn beavers??
Vazc0 May 14, 2020 @ 12:47pm
guys. there are no beavers. its just a funny way of letting you know that there was a problem with your stand/tent.
Dustbuhny May 14, 2020 @ 1:00pm
With respect Vazc0, I fully understand that might well be the case but it seems to me that it'd be a far less aggravating issue for all players if we were simply unable to place the equipment wherever. In the two instances that I mentioned for myself (a mountain top and a road), the tripods were in place for well over a week each when the so-called beaver hit. A simple warning that I couldn't deploy said equipment at those locations in the first place would have been helpful and I would've gladly found another site. Simply put, I don't find they way the Devs do this to us humorous in the slightest although I'm sure that it gives them quite a chuckle.

afaik this problem mostly happens when an update drops and something on the map got changed or messed up (for example the last big update that messed up colinas and hirschfelden)

so it might not normally be a case of ''you can not put it here'' but something that happens to the location way later

Edit: i think it is more fun than just giving us an error code no one understands.

you got the reason in a nutshell. The dev's explained it in another thread somewhere here similar to this. Something about a nice, humorous way to say the map glitched.

No stands or tripods or blinds or tents or any placeable object is "safe" they can all be destroyed by beavers. and it can happen anytime, not just after updates.

interesting.....yea Im pretty new to COTW and stopped paying for structures because "beavers" would destroy them constantly...I assume you lose the building Roubles?

Graphical conflict. There are some places where terrain may change over time resulting in your tent, stand or blind sinking into the ground or having a 30 foot high tree explode up through them. The devs inserted a beaver to let us know we'd manged to find such a spot. Just select a spot about 25 meters or so away and you should be okay. Whatever the beaver "eats" goes back into your storage locker.

I read once, that the placed objects are put back to your container. It shouldn't be lost.

its inland bevers
The Sarge May 15, 2020 @ 2:19am
To simplify the explanation..... The whole thing is a load of cobblers... PERIOD.
And if they were to put them back into storage as they keep telling us, it would still be a load of cobblers, but at least we would still have them, which would make it more acceptable.
