Phasant can't be grounded. Turkey can.
Black Grouse can be grounded as well as Capercaillie. Quail cant be grounded.
All waterfowl i found so far can be grounded. I havent harvested all so far tho.
The game is divided into those 2 groups since only waterfowl can land in water and until the waterfowl rework since Revontulli Coast most of them couldn't land on land. And only the upland birds have a subset of birds where some have to be shot out the sky. While i know which birds need to be shot how, I was just looking to crowd source a generic name for easy reference for friends who cant remember that Pheasant, Ptarmigan and Quail cant be shot on the ground and therefor receive a grounded score. I've had friends let turkeys/grouse get away because they thought they had to be shot out the sky or have grounded quail/ptarmingan because they're both upland birds not waterfowl in their mind.
You either find them in the water already, or if you are able to make a flock land, they will land either right on your head, or in the oddest places in the woods so its really hard to approach them.
At this point i question if this is actually intended that way. Would ducks not rather land in the water for various reasons? Its safer and easier to land there, and its also safer because of predators.
Duck hunting in revontuli is actually pretty annoying so far.
It was a game code thing, prior to Revontulli and the waterfowl rework they only landed on water. They were also much slow so they made them fly faster. But as a controller users i find them too fast/agile now and they're out of birdshot range very quickly. At 100m/110yd birdshot despawns and drops quickly past 50m/54yd.
Even with a shotgun its way easier to get as close as 75 meters so you can use bird shot. Ducks at the shore can be 20 meters away from you and you cant see them because of the terrain. Move one toe and they are gone.
