You must hit the brain then it's a instant kill, jaws or the skull only gives "low bleeding" results.

Also use polymer tip bullets and proper caliber weapon for the animal you are shooting, some of them have really thick skulls.

Just go for double lung or heart shots.

This is a hunting game. Most animals have thick fur, big jaws, and an even thicker skull encasing a really small brain. It's really nothing like us squishy, bobble-head, big-brained monkeys.

If you really want to go for the brain try to go for between the eyes but aim a bit higher than them. However you should really go for the lungs and/or the heart when you can. Lungs are really big and will get most animals down after running less than a hundred meters, heart is a bit trickier to get but is usually instakill(but even if you miss the heart you'll probably hit a lung too).

yee i get it but nonetheless something really sinister, some urge perhaps, or lust, pushes me to attempt headshots anyway

i heard a story-irl story-about some guy who was hunting deers with 22lr by aming right above their eye, i want to see if its plausbile tbh

but so far the only headshot i got was accidental, on a rabbit with 223 which destroyed its head, skull, brain, jaw and apparently also a bit of neck

Three ways to hit the brain. Frontal shot just above the eyes (unless shooting from above at a downward angle), Dead center to the back of the head and from the side. Of the 3, those shots taken from the side are the hardest to do (except on a bison). Brain shots are tricky in that the animals may raise or lower their heads, turn it to look around or just stand there and shake it side to side like the gnats are bothering their eyes. Best to just think "brain" and take "head" out of your vocabulary. It will help you focus on what's important as you take aim if you absolutely want to kill the animal with a brain shot. Otherwise, go for the lungs and hope to hit both of them or go for the heart. They are both easier targets,

This game won't be ideal to test that since guns are weaker than in reality.

Class 0 animals like rabbits will die instantly from a shot that hits anywhere, even a single birdshot pellet to the toe.

totally illegal, that's what gives all of us hunters IRL a bad rep, idiots like this.

I think headshots should be penalized, you're destroying the trophy and that's what you get your score from in the game.

Like other said go with hear/lung shots, even a slightly off shot to those you won't track as far as a missed brain shot.

It is possible to kill a deer, horse or even a bull with a .22 lr. to the brain. Believe me, I have done all three many times. It is not illegal in many countries and definitely not here in NZ. Unfortunately some people are forever quoting their local legislation, with the belief that those laws apply everywhere else in the world. They dont.

But the game has been coded to discourage brain shots with any caliber, because in real life a brain shot, while arguable a most efficient and humane method, is notoriously difficult to consistently execute successfully and accurately under field conditions. It can result in high numbers of wounded animals.
E.G. An animal shot in the jaw as a result of a missed brain shot can suffer for weeks before dying from dehydration or starvation.

The game has been designed to give the best results with lung shots with the recommended weapon within recommended ranges. Those parameters are not parallel to the results you can achieve in real life. The best results in game are obtained by playing the game by the game rules.

totally unethical, which is why it's illegal here - i corrected myself for you, no i don't know all the laws in the all the countries, nor do i give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about them or speak to them, you're assuming there - to shot any game animal with a .22.

The game has ethics built in, you get 0% integrity with a higher powered rifle on small animals, should be the same shooting an animal with too small of a weapon, but they need to revamp all the weapons before they can put that in place.

in a lot of countries hunting with revolver, bow and crossbow is illegal too, that doesnt make them ethical or not its just arbitrary legislation

hell you cant even hunt with mosin or any other military rifle, you can only hunt with specially designed hunting rifles

in the end i bet if you asked an animal if it would rather live wounded for a few weeks or die at once it would always choose life. hence why they always struggle until they are dead. its us humans who care-for our own sake, not for the sake of animal, we chose "clean" kills. to ease conscience.
