Hitting the shoulder blade always denies the quick kill, even with double lungs..
hey has anyone else notice that if you hit the shoulder blade or often the spine, you are denied the quickkill bonus even if you hit both lungs, it happens everytime no matter the animal besides rabbits and ducks, but if i so much as nick the shoulder bones or often the spine, the animal can run far further and loose blood slower , even when you put a bullet through mutlable orgens even double lungs, what is it about the shoulder blade that ruins the changes of a decent score that effects animals so much when hit, i've even used the mosin that can punch a bullet clean through a boars shoulder bone and into the lungs , but no matter the animal if you hit that bone you will loose the quickscore and its quality with it.

Sounds like you are hitting them too high. Practice shoulder shots on bear on the Layton Lake map, and aim 4 to 6 inches down from the point of the shoulder...when you see where the shot travels in him, work out on other animals, like deer or elk, where you need to hit to get the same effect. Some animals it can be difficult, some, like bear, are a gimme for a shoulder shot.

If you hit the little bones sticking up along the spine you risk getting an injury of about 50% for that hit. A spine shot is still lethal if you hit it dead center. As far as the scapula goes it depends upon the animal. You clip a moose scapula that bullet will usually only pierce one lung but lately...even if you don't hit anything but flesh and lung with a broadside shot at 70m (using the .338 or the .300) you might get a one lung hit. You can shoot a boar 2x with the 7.62 and still receive 100% integrity or use the 30.06 It punches right through boars like they were made of butter.

Great tip, need to practise that shot myself. Can learn stuff even after 600 hours in game. Is this spot like the one that bow hunters use in game?.

I don't know. This one I tried because of the difficulty getting double lungs or heart shots side on in early game...it worked, really well. it actually surprised me. But it seems that the aiming point is sufficient to do both lungs, with a big enough bleed out to drop them within the 100% quick hit zone if they don't fall straight away.

I'm well aware of the shoulder bone, and frquently practise shots on diffrent wildlife trying to get the lungs without hitting it, though sometimes at long range or moving targets its enevitable, but this topic has remined me of how i hunt bears, see i love hunting them with the recurve as a fun hunt practise, and have lerned their sweet spot, seeing in my screenshot from a previous topic of this , you can see the arrow placed perfictly between the thick neck and large shoulder blade, that spot ether from front or above, is perfict as the arrow passes clean between the heavy musles unhinderd into ether one lung or both and if aimed true even the heart,
hunting bears with the sightless bows is properly the ummost best practise you can get, though i recogmend a treestand, bear lures and alot of paicense, its one of the very best ways to hunt bears and if you place your spots well, you can hunt 2-6 bears at a time, and if the timeing is right possably more.. :D https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1865320664

1st of all, i wasnt being patranizing to anyone, but i can clearly see your ego stick is longer than both your leggs, i was simply asking questions about the effect of striking bones and the scoring decline, i was not ranting nor complaining, though i do find it odd that people auto image that by asking such questions that i cannot aim for buttons, i'm practised on all creatures with all weapons, but they themselfs was not up to debate,

the question was about how hitting bones effects the wound, bleedout and overall score.

the fact that it is you who suddenly opens up with a paragraph with irelevent details as if your trying to size me up, is not only pointless but laughable, as you only explained the obvious and the fact you felt needed to explain such only shows that you are ether unsure yourself or trying to make yourself feel bigger than your own enadiquises.

so i'm just going to leave this topic along with you sitting in the corner of the dance club where you will likey lurk in the darkest corner hoping the girls don't notice you. and smirk on my way out, i don't need to be lectured by a 12 year old, come back when your balls have dropped. ;P
