On duck HP and Questions
I know geese in Hirsch don't care about HP where they land. Do Harlequin Ducks? I set up 3 sites in the Yukon and to my amazement, around 0930-1030 I was able to just fast travel from site to site 3x before I had no more ducks. Reason I asked is that I noticed first round I would have 5-6 ducks, and it went down from there, last round I got 1 duck in 2 places and 0 ducks in the last. Is this due to hunting pressure or am I being greedy thinking I can zip around shooting ducks for hours on end :steamfacepalm:

Reason I ask so many questions on here is because I found the info from the player community most helpful. I am amazed about how many things I thought I had "learned" from watching videos of all these youtube Cotw hot shots...we all have seen them..So I don't know if I watch old videos or something, that are outdated, or these guys aren't quite the experts they put out to be.

Webb footed creatures do not seem to care about hunting pressure like furry things do. There is not an unlimited supply of ducks and usually, once they get spooked they don't come back. Not all ducks will have your chosen sites on their normal pathway so it's possible you worked your way through those whose pathways put them in your gun sights.

Ducks... move weird. Unless spooked, they don't seem to fly around. Fast travel to the far end of the map, quit and reload. This shakes up the position of ducks pretty well, form what I can tell. Won't make them go anywhere specific, but it can trigger some of the groups to fly to new spots. There's a finite amount on the map, and it's possible they're hanging out somewhere weird and don't want to leave.

I have actually been debating on doing a video series for this game! I like one of the YouTubers who does content for this game (Flinter?) but his coverage of stuff is more focused on gameplay. A lot of his videos come down to "This is where and how I get them". He's clearly quite good and experience at the game. But I think there's room for another content creator here, like you said.

Some people here really intimately know how the game works under the hood, it's sort of a different thing. His videos are more like the advice of a hunter. That's a great option for people who don't want to "spoil" it with knowing EXACTLY what's going on under the hood.

In my honest opinion the duck hunting in Classic and goose hunting in Classic and COTW is far better than the duck hunting in COTW. I wish they would change the ducks to make them easier to hunt with decoys, calls, and blinds. If you really want to hunt ducks you're best bet right now is to run around with the .22 and pop them from a distance.

Yea I don't think they care about HP. Today was my second duck hunt. I set up a fourth decoy position and I must have spent 2 game hours just zooming back and forth. Hunt 20 min for something else and back to check all duck positions. It's weird that 80% of the Harlequins are Golds. They don't make much money though seems. 300-500c per is what I tend to get.

they nerfed the income from ducks? been a while since i hunted them, last i remember it was 800 ish for each. guess i will stick with geese, i'm getting 800-1k depending on trophy.

Ducks and geese don't care about hunting pressure. I've repeatedly murdered so many at a single location that I've erased all other HP from the map and still they keep coming. I'm pretty sure the devs also confirmed this when ducks were released on Layton.

I dont remember ducks ever giving a whole lot per harvest. I could be wrong.

Geese have always been a money earner tho. And they just keep coming.

When ducks were first introduced it was fairly easy to get 25 a day. That's not true anymore and yes, they did reduce the $ reward for harvesting ducks.

I have no problems to hunt ducks properly in YUKON, I have 8 spots where they come regularly.
I hunt the spots one after the other and at each visit I make about 30 ducks (a lot of money and golds) and sometimes a diamond (more rarely than before).
When the hunting pressure is too high (red) and I can't find any more ducks, then I hunt wolves, foxes and reindeer. Usually after a couple of shots the hunting pressure goes down on the ducks and I can hunt again on the duck spots. My duck spots are always busy.
Concerning the ducks at Layton lake and the geese at Hirschfeld I don't hunt them anymore, they have become too rare and it's a waste of time to look for a spot.
As for the turkeys at Silver Ridge Peaks I hunt them at random and I have made 3 diamonds since I hunt them, but I don't especially look for them because they don't come on my calls, it's regrettable because I like to hunt turkeys, I played 4 years at The Hunter Classic and the turkeys were (from the time I played) easier to hunt than on Silver Ridge Peaks.
But this is my personal opinion because everyone has their own way and that's fine.
So today I'm off to hunt more turkeys, have a good weekend to all of you.
