Spotting an animal should tell you...
if its rating falls within diamond range or not. And if its a rare skin.

Like seriously this games been out for years now wtf. Why do I still gotta play with player made reference sheets open on my second monitor all the time.

Just like real hunting.

Coincidentally, I made a suggestion to display a trophy icon.
It may not be what you want, but it should make hunting easier.

It would help, if spotting showed us, if the animal has a rare fur type. Yesterday I flesh shot a mythical Eurasian Lynx, because I didn´t care about the gold medal. Only during the harvest, I saw it was a piebald. I was quite angry about myself.

Have a look at the thread 'how game is supposed to be played'.

Exactly!
Part of the game's draw (for me at least) is that it encourages players to figure things out for themselves, and share what we learn with the community. I think this is a far more realistic and enjoyable experience, as it leaves room for the Aha! moments, and the anticipation, and the surprising (both exhilarating and frustrating).

Hopefully less frustrating as one develops their hunting skills. But there is always something that can go wrong, so be ready for it and than move on. Lol

True enough.
But even the frustrating aspects can push a player to hunt smarter, and to keep trying until one succeeds. Nothing is more satisfying than completing a challenging hunt or mission.

I would not be opposed to these extra features as an additional level or tier in the spotting skills, though. That way, you have to decide if you want to spend a point on it or use that point for a different skill.

For the fur type, there is a 'disturbed vegetation' skill - this does convey information about the animal's class and fur type (as well as freshness, IIRC) - but, you have to put in the tracking effort to find the animal, if you can. Besides, it should be possible to make a good guess at the fur type by visual spotting - you can see the differences with good optics.

"Player Options" are always a plus.

Personally I turn all the aides off. I'd turn off the HUD too if I didn't need it to see my sight settings. The game is completely playable with out all the aides to hunting and tracking. I mean do I need a visual cue for a sound? Maybe if I'm deaf but I have ears. Do I need track highlights? No I have eyes. The worst one is the animal out lines like some kind of terminator hud. Allowing people to shoot at animals they can't even see anymore. Each to thier own but I find the game more rewarding with more realism.

Can't argue this!

My point however, is that the original design and intent of the game is realistic immersion to a degree where it still retains an enjoyable, entertainment aspect.

So, players start with that as the premise, from which, depending on individual tastes, the optional components come into play.

And as much as I support and appreciate options, I'm also suggesting that one can actually apply too many accumulated options so as to dilute the main experience and the main intended simulation of actually representing a hunting experience.

And this seems to be what many players are doing, which than compromises and detracts from the game's actual programming.

For example, you can go to the ball field with a glove and bat and experience the basic game of baseball, but once you start using the kiddie aides, T-Ball, etc., the more easing options you utilize, the less of a true baseball game experience you're going to have.

I think each person can enjoy a PVE game however they get the most fun from the game. Not playing a game the way you would enjoy it is what dilutes the fun.

A developer forcing a way to play due to the devs "vision"on a multitude of players that enjoy games differently without the "options" to satisfy the most variety of player desires is diluting the potential of their success.

Not saying this game. Some devs however think being adamant about their vision decision makes a bad decision good, it does not.

If you're seeking realism then spotting an animal should tell you it's range and what it looks like. Anything else is up to you to deduce from observation. You know, like in the real world.

The agenda is getting more and more abstract, but I think it's necessary to think more concretely.

"About fur color"
I don't think fur color should be added to the information you get from binoculars. It's hard to see because of the bush, or it's hard to see because it's dark or far away, and that sort of thing happens in real life, so I think we should accept that in-game as well.

"About Trophy Rank"
Currently, Trophy Rank is displayed as a numerical value with a range, but I think this numerical value is essential. This is because the animals in this game look the same regardless of trophy rank or weight, so you can't judge them without numbers. Even more so for animals without horns.

However, I think the way trophy ranks are displayed needs to be improved. Adding just one icon eliminates the need for a reference sheet, and it doesn't break the game, so please add it.

How is any group of devs supposed to create a game so that every single possible option is in a game so that every single person can play the way they want?
