On youtube, watch LadyLegend, she is really beginner-friendly and explains a lot.
Note that there is little evidence that herd management actually helps you with getting a GO. So you can basically skip the stacking part as well.
If you watch the big youtubers until early-2022 you can see, that they sometimes had to shoot 5-6000 animals to get a GO (without herd management). Since then they all do herd management and got 20-30 GOs with mostly kill rates of 500-1000 pro GO. It definitely helps.
GO spawns were broken for most of the time. They were fixed only recently. And still today many players have to kill several thousand animals before they get a GO. That is with HM.
And I wouldn't watch the "big youtubers" if I'd get payed for it.
I think his most recent GO he got with less than 1000 kills without doing herd management.
Just keep shooting males and pray to the rng gods. ;)
If you have your tents and tripods setup properly, you can kill 20-25 males in an hour (4 hours in game time). Tip : you can wait to pick up the red deer corpses when their drinking time is over. Some don't pick up the corpses at all, but what's the fun in that.
The day before I shot my GO, I scored a gold melanistic red deer (pretty rare).
The next day in the exact same spot, there was my great one. Probably pure coincidence
Good luck and just keep going
According to the statistics he showed in this video, he shot all his HM-GOs after 1200-1800 kills. That proves, that HM works. Now he got one without HM after 500 kills, could have been pure luck. LadyLegend still shared a video 5 days ago, where she promoted HM..so it doesn´t seem, that the position of Scarecrow is common sense.
No, it doesn't prove anything.
So if a random event suits you, it is proof, if it doesn't, you call it pure luck?
It is very hard to prove anything with such small sample sizes compared to the low probabilities in question.
If the effect of HM on GO spawns was similar to the effect is has on diamonds spawns, it would be clearly noticeable, but it is not.
So your argument is but the gossip lady said so
Let me tell you something, I got the game 2018 but only this year played it frequently.
I've got 5k-something kills IN TOTAL! All species considered.
Got my GO Red Deer last week.
So basically everything is possible and a GO spawn can happen any time.
If and how HM affects anything in that regard remains a mystery until someone of the devs actually clears things up and gives an insight on the mechanics.
Also I think SC actually has the most data collected through the years, so yeah.
No, Scarecrow shot around 20 GOs with HM, that´s no "random event", obviously never over 2.000 kills, so he did something right. The "random event" is, that he recently got one GO after 500 kills without HM, that´s not enough "sample size". And these grinds with 5-6000 kills simply don´t occur any longer, since people do HM.
And concerning the "gossip lady", I have no reason to believe her less than Scarecrow.
