Making way to much noise!!
Why do these devs seem to have this idea that humans make as much noise walking on soft grass etc as Godzilla makes stomping through downtown Tokyo?

I mean almost every map is a constant 2 red bars of noise of regardless of terrain or on soft grass etc. And this is simply walking from point to point. No running etc.

It is utterly ridiculous.

I am playing on Revontuli today, have all my noise reduction skills, and still make a red bar as soon as I move one step off the trails into the grass. Making this sharp SSS SSS SSS sound too that almost makes this unbearable.

Was it realy supposed to be like that?

Original maps had the noise done well. You could obviously see that fallen leaves or shrubs would make noise.

I'm pretty sure our clothes come with forty ten-foot long nylon straps trailing behind. Sure sounds like it.

Maybe the noise levels corresponds to what the animals hear. Do they have better hearing than humans?

Here's an observation. When I'm hunting in Layton walking on one of the boardwalks makes a loud thumping sound but fewer bars in the noise meter than walking slowly on the grass nest to the boardwalk. Been like that since the game was first released.

First off the red bars don't really mean much to me, when you start seeing tracks crouch when animals are close thats what you should be doing. If you want to walk use auto walk even slows you down just a little, you get but one red are most times its a little bit better sneaking around. Don't be standing and walking when you come around tracks they will spook your moving to fast while hunting .

Remember this Is a game I have no trouble getting animals with a bow In this game. most people rifle hunt this game so getting within 300 yards better be no problem . Worried about noise levels makes no sense. If you have animals closer than 250 yards just crouch sneak In and shoot them..

I don't worry so much about sound levels while hunting. What worries me is how annoying the sound is when you brush up against branches. Wearing headphones I find that noise so grating and it is the only sound which tends to loop on both PC and Xbox Series X. I just wish they would change that sound and make it less grating. It really puts me off playing the game at times especially when I need to track an animal through lots of bushes.

Certain noises thru head phones can be pain ,I don't like using them . I use my optical out on my mother board In back hooked to a Yamaha reciever hooked to five speakers It sounds so natural when walking . I don't like head phones they spook the hell out of me when playing a game.....

If youre carrying a large backpack, 3 rifles and a tent and trying to crouch walk or crawl it's going to make a lots of noise. Put all those things on now IRL and try crouch walking through the woods. You'll move will all the dexterity of a baby elephant.

That's true, but as far as I can tell you can walk around in this game with nothing but a duck caller and you'll still be just as loud as if you're carrying 25 lbs.

As mentioned, it's not really difficult to deal with as far as the actual hunting, but it is a little distracting when you try to move slowly through some branches and it seems you're forced to scrape every twig and branch along your nylon jacket while you shuffle through as many dead leaves as you can.

I would be in favor of toning it down a bit.

I noticed this too. There's certain maps with plastic bushes and thicket.

Sometimes I get a bug where I have sound, but not all sounds. One that drops is the movement sound. The meter still works and I'm sure the game accounts for the sound I am making and not hearing. But it is so nice. I'm fine with the sound being an abstract that I can't hear, but functions as intended. A toggle would be nice, turning off the movement sounds but not their effects.

The sound you make in game is crap, period.. Going up the towers you may as well be wearing hobnail boots with tin cans attached. Ridiculous amount of noise as far as I'm concerned. Animals do have super hearing compared to humans, so this silly amount of noise is unwarranted. I now hunt without my headphones on as it gives me a headache.

I'd even go so far and say the sound in general in this game is exactly what you said.
It used to be much better all over in the early days.
