Gun Doesn't Show Animal Class
Only Ammo does....and it it kind of annoying. When I want to purchase a weapon, I want the weapon telling me the Class it can take down.

I don't want the guns ammo telling me that.

It just makes it annoying when shopping for a weapon.

That's because it's the ammo that determines the class, not the gun. There are several guns in the game that can be used to hunt different classes of animals depending on the ammo you use with them.

I agree, though, that it would be useful to have the information about compatible ammo types right on the gun's page in the shop. Currently, if you want that information, you need to click on "compatible items" and then potentially scroll around. So the information is available, but accessing it isn't very efficient.

I understand. But for me who is not a hunter in real life and not knowing what is going on here. Al I know is Trophy Check and Integrity the game is telling me about, and I don't mind that.

But I can't buy my Ammo 1st for the Class I want to Hunt because what Gun does my Ammo go with?

I constantly have to go back and forth trying to find a gun that I think will suit my personality vs Ammo. I don't know how to explain this for it to make sense.

I look at Guns first. Because I am looking for a weapon that makes me go "ooh, I like this one". Okay cool I got my Weapon ... but what Class does the Weapon handle?? Okay I don't know ... so what Ammo does this weapon use?? I also don't know.

Now I need to go to my Ammo Section and find the Ammo that links to my "ooh I like this one" using the COMPATIBLE ITEMS option.

Now I constantly just scroll up and down and go back and forth.

Why not just include the minimum and maximum Class Rating on the weapon as well in the Store Page. That way one can immediately know the class range the weapon is capable of and it will get rid of all that back and forth

The reason the animal class info is on the ammo and not the weapon is because there can be a difference in what class animal the ammo can be used on. For example, there is a difference between the animal classes we can use the .50 cal round ball Vs the .50 cal mini-ball on but both are used for the same weapon. There can also be a difference in what it takes to unlock a particular type of ammo. Soft points tend to unlock first and poly ammo comes later. (btw...if you can, don't waste money buying soft points). Like anything new, it takes time to learn the details. In time you'll learn these new things and that alone will stop the endless looking back and forth to figure things out.

Here, use this. It is probably out of date a bit now? But it should help. Note the tabs at the bottom for map-specific animal details

If .50 Cal Ball and .50 Cal Mini Ball is different classes but uses the same weapon .... Then include on the Weapon Class 2-8 ...... That way you know you're covered because when you go to the Ammo you can now choose .50 Cal Mini Ball for class 2-4 or .50 Cal Ball for class 4-8 and purchase ammo for which ever class you bought the gun for.

It ain't rocket science really adding this on a weapon and I don't get it.

Same ia true for anything else. If a Weapon can Hunt Class 2-9, then include it on the Weapon. Showcase the weapon as a class 2-9 Class Rating .... That way going to your Ammo, you can choose what Ammo you want to buy to fit the Class for fine tuning down to 2-5 for xxx ammo or 6-9 for xxx ammo.

Yeah this actually helps me...but why do I need to look at a Spread Sheet for what I want when they can just include this Sheet in the ingame shop?

Like this Sheet is what I mean. The weapon shows what class range the weapon is ment for example 2-8 and the ammo just fine tunes the class you going for, xxx ammo for class 2-4 and xxx ammo for 4-8.

Just look at it enough to learn it and you'll never need another resource once you know them. Not a big deal. Most veteran players have all the classes down. You will too, in time. Look at it as a thing you learn to master the game, not as some arbitrary thing done to make your experience worse.

Not an IRL hunter, but wrapped my head around weapons/ammo/animal class without a spreadsheet or discussion thread. Just sayin, to answer the question, that it isn't overly complex for everyone and/or a show stopper.

Look at the bright side, anyone that learns this game well will walk away knowing a fairly good deal about firearms and ammo IRL.

Not that I disagree that it shouldn't be this hard. The game seems to want to model reality to a degree. Wouldn't be a bad idea to also model a hunter's education course -- not making it mandatory as it kind of is IRL But basically an online course that talks you through the various animal classes, rifles, and ammo classes.
