Hunting Magpie Geese Question
In one of the side missions on the emerald coast, you have to harvest a piebald magpie. In order to find this, do I have to set up multiple blinds all over the mangroves or can I set up just one and all the groups will spawn in that location eventually?

I set up several blinds, but I don't know if it makes a difference

I'm currently trying to do this and set up two locations. I have a tent and some decoys set up at both of the hunting stands in the southeastern part of the map, near the mangrove. Once the hunting pressure gets high in one place, I go to the other. I've been alternating between them and have shot a couple of dozen geese so far. No luck yet, but the shotgun score is going up (don't have the shotgun scope yet).

When I did my diamond grind, I set up in 5 - 6 different spots. In the process I was lucky enough to get a random piebald and get the mission done. From my observation, it seems that groups don't roam across the entire map. E.g the population you see in the north is not the same as in the south etc.

Each individual map's dispersion will be different.

But I think on this map you do need to be within a certain distance of the natural flightpaths to lure them.

This was one of the toughest missions i did in COTW, I did every mission in every map so far and 99 percent of the Steam ones...took me hundreds of magpies to get to a Piebald but finally did today. I have had seven spots with tents and waterfowl blinds and regular tripods up. I prefer tripods as you get a better overview as they can land pretty far away sometimes. The piebald i finally got was a female silver one after having probably 35-40 gold ones and one rare color before but still no diamond (!)...i had 20 decoys on every spot and even bought more than its allowed to put out i noticed when i suddenly had a limitation-message coming up one day i was putting out decoys that i reached the top number...there are fields close to the crocodile areas where the magpies wont get as easily scared and i had two areas like that and thats where i got my piebald finally. Just be stubborn and keep on shooting, it pays off well in money but yeah..its kind of exhausting while it lasts...it took me one month or a bit more with just focusing on magpies. Got kind of addicted to it i admit...:)....

You need to be in a place where you can hear them. I start calling once I hear a call, no matter how far it is. Most of the time they will come closer, but they won't necessarily land or if they do, they might take off again immediately, so there's no time to check what kind they are, just shoot and hope you get the right one.

Thank you all for your comments. I have 6 blinds. I have 4 blinds spread out in the east central part of the map in the mangroves and two on top in the narrow mangrove. Hopefully I will find it soon. Happy hunting!
