Lost all my progress
Steam Cloud says it is up to date. Yet, after I updated the game, my only option is "New Game". I cannot Continue. I never hit New Game before.

I tried to load the game with poor WiFi some time in June, but the Steam cloud could not sync. I decided to just not play for the time. Finally, I return and now my progress is gone. I think what may have happened was my profile was saved to be a fresh profile after it could not sync my progress, but I am not certain that is what happened. Is there still a way for me to retrieve my progress or am I just completely boned? 367 hours of progress. Very upsetting.

Note: I have not actually entered the game, so I am not sure if this just deleted my mission progress or if my lodges and such were reset. If ONLY my missions were reset on single player, then I don't really care. I just want my items, skills, and trophies, but I don't want to risk potentially messing things up by hitting New Game.

That sounds sad indeed. Going into a "new game" will reset your progress.
Just keep a personal backup of your progress on your HDD instead of relying on cloud saves, that's the only advice I can give.

Did you install the game on the same drive that you had it on before?
If not there may be a save file on the other drive. The game doesn't just save to the cloud, it also saves it to the relevant drive.

The game was updated on the same drive, yes. Never installed it anywhere else.

Oh, so it was never uninstalled? Just not updated?

Go in to your Documents folder, open the Avalanche Studios folder, look to see if there are any save files there.

I created a copy of my profile's number folder today and saved it to my desktop. Then I tried replacing the current saves (the original folder in Documents) with each of the slots (there are 3 total), but I kept getting the same result when loading the game - New Game as the only option. A good chunk of the files have a last modification date of today's date.

I just don't see any good reason the cloud not syncing would cause any of that. Even when you uninstall games on Steam, the saves are not deleted.

You saved the whole folder, not just the slots folder, right? You need the whole folder, not just the slots.

Yeah, I saved the whole profile folder, not just the slots.

And, yeah, I'm not entirely sure why it would do this. My theory is that the data somehow got corrupted due to multiple failed attempts to sync. Still, I'm unsure about that because I do recall seeing all my progress saved (cash and all) before the update for Emerald Coast came out even when I had poor WiFi. I just refused to play or update the game until now because of the WiFi.

Did you already Verify file integrity through Steam?

I would uninstall and reinstall the whole game. You have the save folder saved, so no loss there.

Verified all the files a second time just now. Just like last time, they were successfully verified. I made a second separate save of the current save file to my desktop. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling now. Will update on what happens.

If you have more than 1 file in the COTW folder in the Avalanche Studios folder it always goes to new game. Move the folders in there then try each one till you find the right one.

Post script to my previous, look at the size of the files and try the largest first.

Just finished reinstalling. Only difference is that the reserve background for the menu is now on Layton Lakes instead of Vurhonga Savannah.

I don't have multiple files in the COTW folder; rather, there are multiple slots in the player profile located in the Saves folder. It looks like this: Saves > profile ID > slots

I tried shifting around the slots to see if any of them had the right data, but they all mostly resulted in the same output - with the only option being New Game.

It's all good; I appreciate the gesture nonetheless.
