Diamond rating...now I am confused...

I remember asking why I didn't get a diamond rating on a mythical red deer (but only gold) despite having all scores maxed. Simple answer was that I needed a difficulty 9 (legendary) to get diamond. Also the trophy value would help (there is a skill for that to estimate trophy value through binoculars, which I don't yet have).

Anyway all that study and then I get a diamond rating on a random hare, rated very easy? Now I am confused...

p.s. yes the bonuses are maxed 100% and the "species difficulty" is 25% but they were the same also when I harvested the mythical red deer.

The maximum level depends on the species. Red deer, pumas, lions, bears, lynx, foxes, coyotes and crocodilians go up to level 9. Most other deer species, buffalo, geese, ibex, boars go up to level 5. And then there are species which have the maximal level at lvl 3 like ducks, birds, whitetail deer and also hares. Everything fine here. Congratulations to your diamond!

You need a difficulty level 9 for a Red Deer (class 6) for a potential diamond trophy.
Red Deer are also a Great One species - you need level 10 (Fabled) for that.

The predators also go to level 9 for Diamond potential

After all, I think that "difficulty" should be a hidden parameter.
It creates extra confusion.

Yes I mean now it's clear that the Hare was at its max difficulty thus granting me a diamond rating but it is indeed weird that you are rewarded with diamond thanks to a random ass shot compared to tracking and tricking a massive super intelligent animal that would not even flinch at a bad shot (like it was with my mythical deer...lot of work lol).

Against class 1 every shot counts as vital, also "the random ass shot".
And don´t underestimate Mountain Hares, they are very hard to get, imo a diamond Mountain Hare is much more worth than a diamond Red Deer, which are very easy to get as diamonds.
Hares don´t have drinking zones and are therefore very hard to farm, be glad about this diamond.
