People have been asking for better optics in general for a long time.
You can use the night vision scope effectively, if you stay within about 100m of the target; 150m is possible, but that requires the shooting ability perks. I've done it, and without the animal spotting outline enabled (that's a misleading feature anyway, since it is completely rendered, regardless of any opaque objects or terrain features in the line of sight that would otherwise block your view of the target).
There is a mission in Layton Lakes that requires you to hunt a deer at night - shoot and kill it from at least 150m (well, there used to be a mission like that a while back - I don't recall if it is still in use).
Some night hunting can be done with the other scopes - the Hyperion is particularly good for this - when the moon is full and the animal is out in the open, away from the forested areas.
I've had way more success with the hyperion scope at night and I recently realized it's because it's double the magnification. I like the nightvision and I think it's cool but unless you're close to the animal it seems kinda hard
And yes what Victoria said about highlighting is correct. It does show all of the animal even if partially behind a rock or tree that will deflect your bullet and give you a miss.
During day I now have taken habit to wait highlight is gone and see with my own eyes if he is behind that tree or in front of it....
So at night I use both the nigh vision binocs and the hyperion scope. Best of both worlds.
