Regarding the price - don't stress, you'll get there. A well-placed shot typically earns you around $1000 for the kill, so if you just keep hunting animals, you'll eventually be able to buy the Canning. Completing missions in the reserves, and completing daily/weekly tasks in Apex Connect, can earn you additional funds.
I think I was right the first time. The rifles in this game are $hit. You'd think paying for a rifle pack would at least net you an M-4 or an AR-15.
Side Note: Outside of military weapons I know nothing about guns. Not a hunter or a redneck. I'm ignorant about this stuff. Maybe hunting gear really is that far behind military gear.
One, the game only fully simulates animals in your vicinity. Everything outside of your visual range gets handled by much simpler, but also much more efficient algorithms. This is a necessary division because even the beefiest PC would struggle when trying to handle fully simulated animal behavior across the entirety of this game's huge maps. Letting players reliably shoot animals so close to the border between the "fully simulated" and "roughly calculated" areas would probably invite problems when animals switch in and out of either zone.
Two, the game wants to create a challenge for the player. Getting close to an animal without spooking it, and placing your shot well, is part of that challenge. "Blowing a buffalo in half from 400m", as you write, would not be challenging at all and isn't the gameplay experience that this game was designed for. Likewise, while you _can_ (for example) lacerate a rabbit with 16g buckshot ammunition, you won't get many points for it, because you circumvented the challenge that the game set up for you. If you want to get XP, you need to use class 1 ammo for rabbits, which is of course a bit more challenging.
And yes, M4 is actually only accurate up to 500m. And that is literally because of the 5.56 not the fking rifle.
The game doesn't give us actual scope adjustments, which I'm 100% confident you have no idea how to do IRL anyways so it wouldn't matter. The guns are accurate enough for the range the game plays at.
If it did you'd be able to hit targets up to a mile away. 1600m.
You seem illiterate, so I'll reiterate what I wrote for you in smaller words.
Africa Animal very far (400m). Need gun shoot very far. Kill animal.
Go play cod then.
If it did you'd be able to hit targets up to a mile away. 1600m. [/quote]
No ♥♥♥♥, that's what I want to do.
I would recommend taking his words to heart rather than getting snappish, even if you don't like what they say. He's probably one of the most competent posters here.
It sounds like theHunter might not provide the gameplay experience that you're after. That's fine, not every game needs to be designed for every type of player. theHunter is a game for people who like hunting, have a lot of patience, and appreciate a challenge more than an easy way to success. If your preferences are different, then you'll find more enjoyment in other games.
Again: This is not a game where you spot an animal at 400m, equip a powerful weapon, shoot it, and it blasts apart. You _can_ occasionally shoot animals at that range, but that's an exception and also requires skill. This is a game where you spot an animal at 400m, carefully walk closer while staying downwind, go crouching or prone to reduce visibility, use brushwork or grass as camouflage, use callers to lure animals toward you, wait patiently for a good shooting opportunity, equip a weapon with ammunition appropriate for the animal, take your shot, track the blood trail until you find the body, and then take your harvest.
Really, Unnecessarily rude, eh?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone asking about (or wanting) a rifle with an 1800 effective range in a hunting game. Especially when playing a long-range map. If that somehow hurts mooon's feelings (for whatever odd reason) can't be helped. I paid money. same as you.
But my question was answered, and I thank you for that.
