Soft points will only be effective at close range, otherwise not enough penetration to hit vitals.
The Roos can launch into high gear quickly putting alot of distance between you and them, so that needs to be considered as second hits will have less penetration.
I find they have a tough hide and if not dropped immediately will run a long way making for long tracking sessions.
These are things that should be taken into consideration beyond just the class statistics.
I use them on roos and goats alike from any distance up to 200 yrd ;)
Well you caught me here,lol.
I guess I was speaking in general, and actually can't compare this new gun because I have not tried the softpoints with it yet.
I did read other posts about them being more effective than typical softpoints. So I'll have to check it out.
I made the same unwarranted preclusions about that Vasquez air rifle, and after trying it myself realized it was much more powerful than it's stats suggested.
You'd think I'd learn, lol.
But when it comes down to it, I usually go with the hardest hitting class options. And that 308 will always stand above the 233 in that regard, when not concerned with being equipped for lower class animals.
Another thing to consider is toughness of hide.
RTFM, right? LOL

Too many players jump right into a game and try to start playing it as though they know everything about the game, and never take the time to browse through the top level menu items, the settings, any tutorials, and getting familiar with the controls. Once you've done that, then you can start the real playing. This is just paying attention to details.
The game design could be improved by providing a guided walk-through tutorial for that purpose, and gives you XP and cash just for reading the fracking manuals.
That being said, the weapons and ammunition specifications could benefit from a bit more explanatory detail, especially for players lacking real world experience with hunting and shooting - the Codex doesn't explain everything, but leaves it up to the player to discover the details by careful observation and experimenting during game play.
Until a new weapon/ammunition that covers class 4 comes out, that is LOL
The problem is that the OP author didn't know where to find this information. You've given them a fish for a day, rather than teaching them how to fish.
