Difference Cotw and the clasic game
I have recently bought the game. And I love it so much. I have played the free classic version and when I did, I found it over whelming and really difficult (this was 5 years ago). My question is do I have more patience now, or are there some big differences in these games still. I tried to read about some differences. But the most recent one I found was 2020. If anyone can help me out here would be much appreciated

I never played theHunter Classic, but the general consensus seems to be that it's a bit more realistic in its simulation of hunting and therefore more challenging. Some players prefer it because of this. For me personally, Call of the Wild hits a good balance between realism and player assists.

Of course, it could also be that your approach or your preferences have changed over the years.

But if you have CotW now and are enjoying it, then why worry about a game that you didn't enjoy five years ago?

Yeah, I read this too, but the developers also said they wanted to add all thing from classic to cotw. I want to know if the differences still exist. And I worry about this because 1 I find it interesting. And second im enyoing CotW despite not expecting so cause of my previous experience. I love CotW so much that I want to know what the difference is, and maybe with the knowledge I have now I can enjoy that game differently. Cause, call of the wild sometime feels like a shooting simulator. (For people reading this, for interest I would like to know all difference not only the once answering my story here. For personal interest. :)

As far as I understand, CotW was pretty barebones when it released. The developers have added lots of content over the years - 12 additional reserves with dozens of additional species, lots of different weapons, a dog for tracking, an ATV for (relatively) quick traversal, a big trophy lodge, tents for customizable fast travel, additional ways of hunting (e.g. waterfowl hunting with decoys), etc. None of that existed at release, so if you read comparisons about CotW having much less content than Classic, then these may be outdated by now. (Note that you'll have to pay extra for most of that additional content, but then again, CotW doesn't require a subscription.)

But the developers never said that they wanted to change the gameplay of CotW and make it more like Classic. The gameplay differences that existed since day one (i.e. CotW being less of a strict simulation and making things easier for players), still exist today, at least that's what I gather from people who are playing both games.

CotW will never be as feature rich as classic imo.
I'm fine with CotW as it is, but if I wanted a better simulator, it'd be classic all day long, if it wasn't for the outdated graphics.

Care to explain more in detail or give an example.

IIRC, when Classic Dev was bought out, they did NOT want to have CoTW be too similar to Classic at all, and for a couple of years avoided adding some things that players were asking for because of that. For example turkeys, and still debating the feeders.

The last few years has seen EW give in a bit more adding game birds and dogs, and with last reserve some Aussie animals like Bentang, Roos, Magpie geese.

To date, we now have pretty much everything that Classic had for content.

The biggest differences would be that the graphics are better where alot more detail is shown and you don't seem to be so claustrophobic and cluttered when in the woods, and animals show up much better.

One thing about Classic that's better is the trophy variations in deer racks. CoTW uses less variations managed by the Trurac system, which is an improvement over what it released with. But Classic has monster racks that really get your heart pounding.

In Classic there's also the ability to use feeders, which some like, and I'm really undecided. Ive used them in Classic, but I really don't see the need in COTW, which leads to the most obvious difference.

In Classic the feeders decreased the need to travel, which was advantageous because there wasnt as much opportunity to set tents out like there is in CoTW.

That one travel factor is probably the biggest game playing difference.
COTW is much more polished than Classic, you also don't need an internet connection to play COTW, you can play it if your internet goes down. The Hunter Classic requires a active internet connection just to play.

Also the purchasing of licenses for certain areas and animals.

- retriever, feeder and actually useful hunter mate. Clothing that's serves a purpose and isn't just cosmetic and animals wich are more difficult to hunt. Just to name a few. ;)

Thanks everyone, this is what I wanted to know. I know now what I miss, and it seems like it is not a lot. Will be looking out for further CotW updates
