is Rancho del Arroyo negative reviews still relevant?
all these bad reviews on the DLC are back in 2021 or 2022 so i was curious if this map is good now? looks like a DLC i might get along with the game.

Have the game for free on epic but steam seems to have a discount on the master hunter edition where epic does not but was curious to see if Rancho del Arroyo was worth buying as well.

This map is ok maybe not my favorite but there Is always some thing to like or see. Try any of the other 15 to 20 maps when they are on sale . Try to tell you whats your Favorite map In Impossible..

These negative reviews cover a pretty wide range of topics and opinions, so it's impossible to answer your question with a single "yes" or "no". Some bugs that people were complaining about appear to have been fixed, at least I didn't run into them myself. The criticism about the map layout and the lack of biome diversity is still valid, but then again, there are (and always have been) also lots of people who enjoy that environment and the challenge that it provides. Species diversity is slightly higher now (at least one new species has been added to the map), but there's now also another map where you can hunt pheasants (which were previously unique to Arroyo). The quests in Arroyo haven't changed (and are indeed lackluster compared to earlier reserves), but later DLCs are even worse in that regard - so while the facts haven't changed, perhaps the players' perception has, and what may have been "bottom tier" quest design a few years ago may now feel average.

You can actually go there yourself and have a look. You can enter any reserve in multiplayer, you don't have to own the respective DLC. The downside is that you'll get booted out of the map as soon as there's no longer any player present who owns it, but you'll have time to assess whether you like it or not.

I have it and it's ok. The main story is interesting and you get a nice shotgun for completing main mission. Plus shooting pheasants is fun.

Where else can you hunt Mulies and Whitetail??? I love Arroyo. One of my favorites.

It bothers me personally that walking there (and in Parque Fernando) is more noisy than anywhere else. I very much like consistency. Otherwise, I love the location, the story and animals.

Since when is every environment on earth consistent in that regard?

Medved's icy nature is just naturally noisier. Different grass types, like saw grass would be noisier, same with branches and brush. It's immersion into realism.

Before you get all aggro and lecture me as though I was a child, let me tell you that for some reason it is isn't noisier on the Australia or Africa maps. To me that is inconsistency, and I point that out. Kindly, lower your weapon. I am all for immersion, but I am also all for balanced gameplay. I have been playing this game almost since release.

It's supposed to be US Southwest, so terrain diversity is desert and hills. I quite like it because it's different from a lot of other maps.

The shotgun you get from the questline is probably the best in the game.

I like the animals: whitetail, goats, and especially Mule deer.
Pheasant and turkey are pretty fun. Just carry a shotgun with you and blast them out of the air when you see them.

If you're deliberately trying to hunt pheasant, they can be annoying because they don't like to fly. - When the map was first released, they were a little bugged and sometimes wouldn't fly at all.

1 to 10, I'd say Rancho is a 7. Maybe a 6 if you don't like the terrain.
There are maps that are a lot worse. Hirsh, New England, Medved. Pargue can be annoying. Mississippi about even because it has alligators which bumps it up to a 6-7 in my mind.

all the maps are worth buying cause you need the missions to help you level up quicker, the leveling XP will slow way down the higher it gets

If you want a map that is tougher to hunt then this is a map for you. The smaller stuff like the coyote, Mexican bobcat and collared peccary are hard to spot and real easy to lose in the areas where there is a lot of brush. Depending on exactly where you are on the map, you can get up to some of the higher points with a pretty good view and scan the brush below.

I have no idea why there are negative reviews. It has an excellent diversity in terms of biomes (4 major ones), the landscape is pretty true to life, and the animal selections (esp. since they have added pronghorn since it was released), is great. It is, however, tough to hunt in the western part of the map as there is so much vegetation, and some people don't like challenge.

Also on the plus side, it is the only way to get the 16g trench gun, which is fabulous for hunting birds.

If you are not sure, just give it a try in multiplayer.

That's a little dismissive. People who don't like challenge should probably look for a different game altogether.

Personally, I have completed all RDA missions and have a diamond rabbit from the dry bushy area in the west, but I still don't appreciate the noisy ground cover.

Just to clarify, that if some people don't like a map it doesn't necessarily equal a dislike for challenge.

I sure do like this map - a lot.

Mostly because it has an interesting DEM (digital elevation model) as a base. The ravines and ridges are very true to life and the overall layout is very "believable". From open "hot" desert environment via bush/shrub to the shadows of the forested areas. It stands out somehow.

I'm not sure I suffer from the extraordinary sound-level that Lotte describes above, but it might be so. I've noticed some maps do draw my attention to this, like Silver Ridge for instance. However, it seems some of that has been fixed lately, especially when it comes to the sound of the dogs footsteps. Or my brain is just filtering that out now...

Anyhow, RDA is well worth it in my book.
