Are you basing that 200 meters on tests at the shooting range?
I'm wondering if you're talking about 2 different trials here, the distance at the range, and the penetration in the field?
I haven't really tested it out myself yet, but had it out once and it seemed to be very underpowered. Can't recall what animals I used it on. I think it was Roe Deer. But I think the statistics say it's good for medium game. And I thought the range was something like 75 yards.
What animals did you try it on?
And what distance do you get with it?

This is great, thanks alot.
Yeah, so I tried to date the video but couldn't. But it's definitely not one of his older ones so ballistics should be same as now.
It seems that up to 100 yards there's no need to aim high. So thats better than I expected.
And the fact that, being an air rifle, it can still penetrate a whitetail at 200 yards seems a little unrealistic. But than, I don't know anything about air rifles at all.
But I would say that aiming that high at 200 yards suggests it's not really meant to be used at that range. Although that was some amazing shooting there by good ole dd33.
I'm gonna definitely try this gun out now. It seems to be right on for canines, small cats, and should be okay for small deer within 100 yards.
It will be interesting to see how it fares on the tough hide of hogs.
Good to know. Heading for the test range.
This was actually the video i was referencing hahahaha
Made a fortune with the AR from the geese in Hirschfelden. Not that I ever set out to hunt them, but these pests are simply always there and then annoy the heck out of me with their cackle. It's most satisfying to hear the noise gradually die down with its initiators.
I'd be very much in favour of a buff to the AR, like decreasing its spook radius (does not make sense to me that this radius is 2-3 times larger than that of a bow) and opening it up to class 1 animals, perhaps by means of a new type of ammo.
Or, alternatively, give us more ARs to buy .....
That being said, I find that the sound for the Cyclone is totally wrong. When it fires, it sounds like a spring powered air rifle and not like a PCP. Also, I find the penetration lacking when dealing with class 4. But with class 2-3 it's pretty nice yes.
I'm curious: to those who say they don't need to adjust elevation at 100 yards, what scope do you use, and do you have the zeroing perk activated? My tests at the firing range when using the 4-8x42 scope look like this:
50 meters
- cross-hairs appear zeroed in at 50m on 4-8x42 scope
100 meters
- a good 6 inches of drop, at least
- Interestingly, the FIRST mil dot below the cross-hairs becomes EXACTLY on-target
150 meters
- a lot of drop
- aiming just above the SECOND mil dot seems to compensate
I'd love for someone to run their own tests for comparison...
search youtube for bison hunting with air rilfes.
I took the air rifle out for a trip and used it on some Bobcat and fox.
I haven't taken it to the test range yet, still determined to succeed in a couple of other ventures, white water buffalo, etc. But as to your test results, I'm thinking that when you have such significant dropping beyond 100 yards, it just doesn't seem realistic to have any fatal penetration. The more it drops, the less the impact, and the less the penetration.
With that theorizing, I really don't like to compensate by aiming that high, if at that distance you might be able to hit the target area, but you do so without any killing power.
