Demented Moose
Just got knocked out by a moose. Respawned only for the moose to run across the map and attack me again lol.

The moose definitely have an attitude now. Always looking to start something. LOL

Did the "moose" have long pointed horns?

I can recall in the days the moose were first introduced, the females were so keen that they would double or even triple team you. Any moose within a hundred yards that could see you would all want a piece of the action. I believe they have actually mellowed with age.

What on earth have you been doing to the moose to upset it this much?

The first moose in the game were more panicky and seemed to let you get a lot closer before you knew their presence, then they just trampled you. With that, I spent a year IRL in the interior of Alaska on the Yukon river, and the last place you wanted to find yourself was anywhere near a cow moose that may have a calf in the area. The calf can be a year old and she'll still stomp you into the tundra in a heartbeat.

That moose is out to get you. It will not stop pursuing you until you shoot it. Watch your back until you do. ;)

This bug exists since many years. Devs never bothered to fix it.

There's nothing to fix!

Moose can be extremely aggressive IRL. And this is a simulation of that reality.

they hold a grudge .if you looked like a moose you'd be mad too. but you do NOT :steamhappy:

My first encounter with the current aggressive moose behavior was quite terrifying. There was a big male, which I saw briefly nearby, moving from my front left to my back left about 20-30 meters from me. I thought it would leave since it clearly knew I was there, but in a moment I heard it make a noise, one I hadn't heard before. I started looking around, couldn't see it as I was inside some bushes, but heard the noise again. Eventually I was spinning around trying to figure out where the noise was coming from, and then suddenly the screen was full of antlers. It was just standing there, head down, so close that it filled the screen, and of course then I got trampled.

I stumbled across a resting moose today.

It was definitely trying to start something. :VGRUMPY:

Edit - some more context: As I was traversing the forest en route to my intended destination, I stumbled upon a moose that was taking a break. Like the previous commenter, I noticed that the moose did not immediately flee, but instead yelled at me something fierce and moved about in a manner that seemed highly suspicious. We eventually circled eachother and went our seperate way.

Oh yes, this makes being out in the woods all the more terrifying (so to speak). I was out night hunting in LL a couple of days ago - came across a cow moose, took her with a crossbow, but instead of running away, she came at me, died right at my feet, but her sister also came at me out of nowhere. I had to run, switch to \my 300 Canning and shoot at her, all the while trying to avoid getting completely trampled, before she dropped.

This was the 3rd time in LL where I had to get into a firefight with a moose.

They do make a specific aggressive noise which is very different from a mating or warning call, and if you have the wherewithal (and the time) to spot one in your binos or scope, it will show as Aggressive.

Love it.

I even shot one on a tripod and it attacked me before it died.
Yes I received damage. Tho' it was slight.
But other times the moose comes at the tripod and bellows.
Even tho' it's a vital hit. :dunno:

Tracked a bull moose for hours, and finally got within fresh sign after losing its trail a couple of times. It had finally become drink time and was headed for a nearby lake.

Just when I thought I had a chance at it this cow comes marching out at me. I should have just turned and fled in opposite direction, but I shot her instead. And of course spooked the bull.

I followed it again but had to give up on it when real life intervened, lol. It was so elusive and tricky that it just had to be a diamond.

Those danged moose don't give up on you easily either, once they aggro on you. You can't slip away quietly in crouch mode because they will outpace you. I'm starting to think that when I'm moose hunting carrying a bow will be essential.
