New England Mountains reserve - let's discuss :)
After just a few steps into this new world of theHunter Call of the Wild, I am loving it.
I easily like coniferous spruce and pine covered forests and the mix of deciduous at lower altitudes is great. Not so fond of too much elevation changes, but hey it's a tourist attraction and so it must also please the hunters, right? :)

Does the new addition have character? To early for me to say, but based on all the previous reserve DLC's, I trust it will develop a good "character" in my mind. The vegetation quality and topography base speaks for it, just a couple of hours into it.

And, the New England music theme is awesome as usual. Who is the composer behind these themes?

What are your initial thoughts, ladies and gents?

I be interested in the process on how they go about making these maps. They are beautiful, and always look very realistic.

Hi James, I got him, and whoever said the spotting ID info is off kilter. That damn deer I chased was a wild goose, lol. All effin day too.

Anyhow, I can't speak to anywhere except the forest along the river just near the start.

That wrong ID kept me stalking all afternoon.

I'm hoping that there is some variation to the topography so I can get outa this damned jungle.

I did come into some farm pasture so looking good.

First thing I thought upon opening map the first time, was there didn't seem to be alot of lakes. So I hoped there would be rivers flowing through different types of scenery.

Fingers crossed.

I think I'm hearing alot of new sound files activating as I wander.

And tracks seem a bit less visible and had to play around to get good color choices.

I think the map is beautiful. I played it for an hour so far and I love it. Not having any problems. I like the forest maps especially the ones that have the fall leaves.

Thank you all for interesting reads!
I came a bit deeper into the reserve before calling it a day.
The more I saw, the more I liked it. Ended up tracking a bear that took me up high on one of the ridges. When I was about to down him, my daughter (8 yrs) joined me at the screen and told me to put down the rifle. I shoot him with my camera instead :)

I also played it for about 2 hours so far and I love everything about it, flora, music, animals, ambience, definitely in my top 3 of most beautiful reverses.

With that being said I hope the next reserve is much more different, I'd love a winter reserve in Canada or humid one in Asia.

Hi Bass, you did alot more harvesting than I.

I tend to start new maps by activating drink zones to get more animals spawning around me, and to see what shows up.

And I like to get a couple Outposts unlocked to allow fast travel to separate areas of the reserve.

But I got focused on tracking down what I hoped would be a trophy Whitetail after crossing it's 220 pound footprints. So I didn't start this map the way I typically do.

I normally don't kill anything I've used to unlock new zones so I can give them a chance to be frequented by more than one. This way they don't become disassociated with that species.

I did see alot of young moose bulls, level 1 to 3, and took a couple of those to get the level 4s spawning.

I did not see any different terrain though as I was pretty much stalking that one area from start point toward the south, just east of the river.

Like you I did hear many new sounds.

And calling moose in has a whole new challenge to it, with the aggressive cows ready to put a world of hurt on your ass, lol.

Today I want to scout around, and have a look at some new topography.

Oh, got jumped by a black bear too, which seemed a bit more aggressive than they usually are.

Well, we have New England now, so how's about New Scotland, otherwise known as Nova Scotia?

Would be alot more ocean coastal shoreline, and Lotsa lakes and rivers, but pretty much the same animals though, so not likely.

But yeah, next map should be unique in some way, for sure.

Oh you need to roll a big rock across the entrance to your cave. Lol

That isn't new england.

That is north eastern ontario, roundabout a couple minutes walk from where my wife's family lives.

I'm loving it to bits.

I have about 30% of the map opened. I kind of hate driving around doing that opening up everything I like finding every thing on my own ,but that's the way COTW has It set up so be It. And I only bow hunt for me its more fun.

Hey, it's still me doin the opening, lol. Don't matter how or timewise. Still me!!
On my own.

Yeah I'm gonna tell ya sumthin, I'm sensing lately there might be some merging of dev minds in cooperation mode, ew and that.

And if so, GREAt, lol. More is better, learn what other brain can add to your repertoire.

Right???? But anyway, why I been thinking this last couple of months, involves something I'm seeing and feeling as I wander here so far.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like being in the Nez Perce hillsides?

It's all good, but I can't help feeling it's alot like that map. Are these Devs 'groupworking'?

It is the 4 day workweek thang now!

I really like the river for an easy way to sit higher up and spot animals going to it. Biggest thing is the great one moose that will keep me playing it. I've ran into a few moose that are just standing still, probably due to their new aggressive behavior. It's not very hard to dodge them or just stand there and watch them slowly spin around trying to find pathing.
