The beginning of the END?
To the Developer Team!!!!

In my humble opinion you moved to another level of KILLING COTW.
Do you remember before Revontuli you can easily predict where geese will fly to aim and shot. With the waterfall stuff someone decided that the way birds fly in the game is not realistic( his opinion) and you guys make birds fly in your game by increasing the speed as any bird can mimic in real life.It is wrong I've been watching Geese for Decade from Canada to US I NEVER SEE them flying like you did.
With the new England map release someone think that shooting animal without spooking them from 200m is not enough LET INCREASE THAT to 270m (you opinion)
The last part of joy in this game with is FARMING is now DEAD, There will be no room to shoot one without spooking everything around. If you think how many kill you have to put down to get THE TROPHY that 2 to 3 time. DO you really think that Average players (The majority) has time for that.
I understand that THE CONTENT CREATORS are guiding you now and whatever they CRY FOR that what the game would look like.
I respect their hard work but its just BUSINESS for them, they'are making tons of money with that BUT they are not the majority and they DO NOT bring more players to you, instead to algorithms (LIKE and SHARE)
Why would you like make "HARD" while we are not looking for that. It's a GAME we just want to relax by shooting animals when we back home from work ?
These change are DIRECTLY influenced by Way of The Hunter (Spooking distance, tagging from Binocular, etc.....)
Don't You see the BIG FAILURE of way of the hunter ? COTW IS MASS SHOOTING GAME. By changing that you're breaking the fundamental mechanic of the Game.
If the animal spook from 270 now, why I still cant see them from 417m? Bullet should travel a mile, while don't you adapt that?
It's heart breaking to see you Killing the only hunting game we have FOR NOW just to satisfy some of you or youtuber's business.
Until we get another game we will be under your will and Thanks for what you've done so far.

IMO, COTW is transitioning to replace the hunter classic . I've read classic's hunting is more difficult and less arcade like. With every COTW update, DLC, game mechanic's tweak and micro transaction addition it seems as if COTW is the new classic. Spreading to Epic and the lowering of the graphics quality to assure operation on as many pc's as possible, closing off classic's servers may not be too far away.

I'm pretty drunk writing this, but i've noticed a couple things that kind of relate to your words. the Bird speed suddenly increasing when they get spooked. The ducks that is, they will be going along normal, then they split apart like a bunch of ww2 fighter melee. Hardly any trees give the hidden bonus, so it's easy to spook animals,,, I've never had to go prown so much before. I really don't like that. I was hoping the devs would go the opposite direction and make most tree give that bonus.

I've not looked into that new hunting game, so can't comment on that.

The sound has really been effected badly. The panning is far too brutal on each side. Like it is missing the stereo balance and just goes left or right.

Can't say i think the devs are going in the wrong directions. I like elements of the latest maps and updates, and they're are things that i don't like.

Does feeling like the dev team are trying to do something but are either stuck with the COTW game engine and hardcoding or not sure what to do, or how to do it.

Can't say Classic is harder, but it is Classic

This is my one and only comment for the Devs: make a friggin weapon/ammo/pack preset system so that you can swap gear FAST without WASTING TIME on a CRAPPY INTERFACE.
Steven-Senegal Dec 10, 2022 @ 12:29pm
I agree. Animals spook and notice you too easily and IMO the gun´s are too weak.

The content creators are generally unhappy with this and definetly weren't asking for it. Stop blaming them you clown.

Classic isn't going anywhere, it makes far too much money with too little production cost (it's assist been made). The kind of content and systems changes EW would have to make to replace Classic is far too extensive for them to take on. They're trying to compete with WotH which utilized similar concepts of Classic but put it in a CotW framework.

Yea your right the ducks fly a little to fast to hard get a realistic aim on them ,compared to real life Its not even a problem pulling up on them. Also the aiming bead at the front of the gun Is too big covers up the view the site pin could be a 25% smaller and add a choice of green as a front site. Slow the ducks down by 10% to 15%. Be a lot more fun...After thinking about it just make the front sight a little smaller on the shot gun that should clear up the challenge of aiming at flying or ducks that get off the ground or water , like I say the site Is to big for aiming. And maybe slow the ducks down 10% then they are on or near the ground ........

So I haven't been playing COTW since WOTH dropped.

Can I ask, does this change mean bow hunting in general just became much more viable in terms of "productivity"? In other words, are rifles still king when it comes to kill counts over time, or is it more balanced now?

...so many wierd opinions here. Why not make it more like classic? Why not make it a notch harder? I welocome it. That was my first reflection coming from Classic to COTW, this is arcady, but I liked it when I stripped off all of the visual clues. If the other mechanics are being transferred from Classic to COTW, I'm more than happy.

But they're not being transferred... they literally can't be until the map population is refreshed every time you enter the map, camouflage has practical implications on gameplay, need zones aren't permanent, and EW converts the game the monetization model to FTP.

"The kind of content and systems changes EW would have to make to replace Classic is far too extensive for them to take on."- They have already taken this on and are implementing it now in COTW. If WotH is their competition EW has the engine to compete, EW has the player base to compete and the framework and platforms in COTW. They are not going to use the old engine and graphics to keep up with any competition, they will use COTW. The dlc's are now an ingame store, micro purchases galore. New dogs coming, new weapons coming, game mechanic adjustments, skins are here, etc. etc. The existing Classic players will switch, I'm curious how EW will compensate for their purchases and transfer there investment to this platform though. They may keep servers for both platforms, who knows, but I doubt it. This may be a good thing, may be a bad thing. I'm keeping an open mind and seeing how it all works out.
Edit: If it would require FTP, COTW is on sale almost daily now and the current price is $3.99 for the base game. O.o It will probably be free here shortly. I'll have to check Epic for a price. I only had to pay once for my copy of the Time Traveler, COTW reads like the NY Times.

You don't speak for me. I, personally DON'T want a game where I can just sit back and, "kill animals", as you said. This is a HUNTING game. Not FortNite. It sounds to me like you're upset that firing your weapon spooks the animals in the vicinity because you want to be able to just run around and blast a bunch of animals while they just stand there and let you do it.
I know this game isn't a totally realistic hunting simulation, but it is still supposed to be a somewhat realistic hunting game. And you're complaining that the. "realistic" hunting game is, "realistic". Go play "Duck Hunt" on Nintendo. That sounds more like what you're looking for.

Dude... the monetization shift itself would alienate players away from CotW. Its primary selling point is content to cost ratio. The only adjustments CotW has made has been spawn requirements for GO's and shot spook range. A Classic shift would require removing anchored need zones and need zone schedules. It would require a non-typical system independent of the current template system. It would require fully randomized spawning every time you enter a map. It would require a more robust template system. It would require a realistic pace of gameplay that CotW inherently can't meet without an even more drastic overhaul. In short, it would require resetting player expectations of the game. More to the point, it would mean cutting out and replacing the double dipping on the Classic market. Classic is nothing but net income right now and shifting CotW would cost tons of man powers and tech resources.

So rather than being able to cash in on the Classic grind style (and the classic income), they'd slice the demographics CotW appeals to. It's a stupid business move plain and simple.
