Also, I love the large open areas in the Silver Ridge peaks map, though it also has very dense areas.
Let's hear what others have to say.
Ive bought most of dlc and just from the cover I thought Fernando looks good and Im not disappointed. Atleast its much better than starting map, still a bit empty, like I have more clear view but it looks so empty. lol
Maybe my option distance view is a bit skewed? I have most of my settings at high so that should be oke...
Edit: I have to take my words back. Fernando is exceeding all my expectations.
I happen to be grinding away on Fernando at the moment, trying to get 7 diamonds, one of each species (got 3 of the 7 so far). What a mission! Will be so great when it's done.
@BJWyler
True, the Africa map has some really wide open spaces.
TBH the only Map I would "avoid" at the start is Mississippi, and that's because it's got a lot of dense terrain and a lot of smaller creatures that hide in said terrain. It does have Alligators and they're fun, but they're an exercise in patience, too.
Since I got some shots at 250-300 meters.
Record is a lung hit at 376,41 meters.
Were u trying to catch them on a treble hook again lol?
The maximum render distance for animals is about 430m or so, but it varies with the size of the animal. At 200m you won't see rabbits, even with the binos.
What is affected by the size is spotting as that depends on the area of the animal on the screen that's not covered by the landscape/vegetation, so you need higher magnification to spot smaller animals that are far away.
I gave Colinas a chance and its on top of my list atm, alot of open areas and animals dont get spooked that fast at all, yes Im taking wind in consideration. What really won me over was the coding, starting area has me around 65 fps, sometimes below 60, Colinas on the other hand straight 80+ fps. I felt so good I increased my settings even further, still 80+ fps.
I dont know about draw distance. For a moment I thought I coudlnt see anything farther than 200m. I just now hit a shot 292 meters with my .243 lol
My best expierence on Colina as a new player was definitely the wolves. Finaly something going after me. Free money and exp all day, 4 wolves thought it was a good idea to check on me.
Great! I'm glad you like Cuatro Colinas. I had a blast hunting there. Still trying to get two diamond ibex trophies for an achievement there (get a diamond for each of the 4 ibex species - Grand Slam achievement). Yes, I was also won over by the open environment. The devs actually toned down the aggressiveness of the wolves there after people pointed out that in reality the Iberian wolf is more docile than the Gray wolf (Yukon). They used to attack more often, but now they tend to do it less. But, yes, they definitely still will try to get you. Enjoy!
I don't know if DLC issues are keeping you from trying out Revontuli and SRP, but just letting you know, you are really missing out on the best maps.
Give them a try! They are a whole new CoTW experience.
This drawing distance doesnt have much consistency I noticed. I managed to spot a bear from 500m and even get a shot in there.
