WotH multiplayer compared to CotW
Me and my friends just bought Way of the Hunter for the multiplayer, but we're not too impressed with it so far and have refunded the game. We hadn't heard of CotW before but we saw in the negative reviews for WotH that lots of people were talking about this game, so I wanted to ask you guys about the multiplayer works in CotW.

Do you have actual objectives in MP in CotW? In WotH there's only free-roam, which is nice and all, but without specific targets to hunt it's kinda... pointless? It'd be nice if me and my mates could have a direction when playing rather than just roaming around pointlessly. I read on the Steam page that players can compete or cooperate which sounds fun, so is the multiplayer mission-based then, or can you just roam around too?

Any info you wonderful people could tell me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much, hope you're all doing well!

multiplayer is pretty much free roam. that being said no animal is the same, you can go in shooting whatever that moves or you can go after high rated animals based on the trophy ratings it's totally up to you, just be warned that if you shoot whatever that moves you start developing hunting pressure which are pink spots on areas of the map that you've shot an animal that eventually died and the darker it gets the longer it takes for that area to have animals roaming around it again, it's basically a place that animals avoid because they know a hunter is there. also, although EW likes to milk this game with DLCs they aren't a necessity.. If say you want to play on a DLC map you can join a multiplayer server set up by another random person and play on it until they leave in which case the server closes in 5 minutes and if you enjoyed the map, either you or your friend can purchase it and both of you can play on it so long as the person that bought is on.

There are some challenges but the single-player missions can not be completed in multiplayer.

The challenges are things like: "Be the first to harvest a certain animal that has a certain minimum trophy rating."

Nothing super in-depth but does give a bit of direction while in a multiplayer session.

Thank you for the replies! So it's mostly free roam but there are some set challenges to do?

Thanks for the help!

Are the challenges randomly generated or is there like a list of challenges that never updates? Do you get a reward or is it just for bragging rights?

The host selects a challenge from a static list. It's still just free roam, but it's a different way for you to choose your own objective for the session. It is purely for friendly competition, there is no reward.
