Crossbow for older missions

Does anyone know if the new weapons will work to complete the missions requiring a bow? In other words, because the crossbow is new and the existing missions pre-date it, will a crossbow used on a mission requiring a bow complete the mission?

hard to say, there was a huntclub mission out when the crossbow came out to shoot moose elk with a bow. The crossbow was not recognised as a bow during that one, so the only thing to do is try and see what happens.

Thanks Boss...I kinda thought that unless the development team had been particulalry cautious the weapon might fall into a bit of a gray area between a gun and a bow, but since the projectiles are arrows I thought it was a decent bet that it would register as a bow. I will give it a try when I can to determine the answer unless someone can say definatively from having tried it on a mission. I currently only have one bow mission and it has proven to be a difficult one for me.

As fate would have it I just was able to complete that mission and it DOES in fact work on missions requiring bows.

If it works then, missions are going to be more easy, considering it has scope and better accuracy.

It does have scopes...accuracy is another matter. Also, when I logged back on later, it is acting as though I never finished the mission. When I killed the lynx it acknowledged that I finished the mission and then offered me the new one which was to kill a lynx within no more than like 47' but now, it is acting as though I never finished the last one. Now sure what is going on.

That sounds like a bug. I've completed Beatty #10 and Doc #20 (both about shooting a moose with a bow) with the crossbow with no problems. The first moose didn't count towards that week's weekly mission, which included shooting a moose with a bow, but it should have (the devs said that in the Twitch stream).

Thank you TarjaS, not that I'm gald you had difficulty, but I am glad I am not the only one. I got help from another in the community and as it turns out it was my firewall. I had just renewed by antivirus protection and it reset my firewall permissions so it blocked the communication with the server. it is fixed now.
