Now that I've figured them out I realize they're probably the most common animal in the game.
1. Sometimes it seems I get a deer spawn map and never see any rabbits.
2, My RL brother is lvl 10, we never see more than a couple rabbits, seems like we need to stalk them on his maps. On my maps, lvl 44ish, they always come to me. Have no idea why that seems so. I have the skill points in grunt calls and use it on both maps, works best in my maps.
3. People talk about time as does codex. Does not matter, I see them all times of the day. In fact, I was on the rope bridge shooting deer at 300+ yards at 12:30pm; went down to the water and wore the bunnies out on the peninsula out from the rope bridge with my pistol.
4. Seems like shot gun with bird shot fears the bunnies further than the .22. This includes other animals.
Finally, not true about 40m render. If 40 meters is about 120 yards, I have shot them at over 200 yards. Have a screen shot at 189 yards. Was hunting moose at 250 yards and shot a bunny for fun.
Just like in hunter original, always climb a rock, or get in a stand, works wonders.
Also, I just remembered I was shooting deer from to of lookout tower, and shot 2 bunnies from way up there. Not sure why all the animals was around the tower.
You are correct. They are pesky little critters. And that is probably the reason for those who have never seen them. I've got no problem finding them and taking them. My only issue is that they never seem to return from places where I've cleared them out. I was just offering that up as a possibility for those who are not seeing them.
40m is about 44yds or roughly 130 feet.
yeah i know what you mean, I have noticed that they do march very long distances across the map, followed some for ages and never caught up with them. maybe they were just there having stopped from a long trek but don't actually spawn there. its hard to say with them only being out for this long. I would have thought their spawns were random to stop players camping out at one location and getting them when they spawn in.
It's not even a pressure issue for me. I'm not seeing them in places where they've been wiped out long after the hunting pressure is gone as well.
I'm still finding them in other areas, but they just never seem to come back to the areas where I've wiped them out.
Maybe they "eventually will" come back, or maybe they've "moved on", but if that's the case, then they are surely not following the same set pattern of all the other species in game.
Any/every other species respawns/repopulates the same general area quite quickly - oftentimes while you are literally picking up your kills.
of course if this is the case, then where are the bunnys? will be the most active thread soon.
I know there are people getting rabbits, but some are starting to see fewer and fewer. But I'd like to ask you something about the Hunt Club (since it's still unavailable here in China). How does it work when you do something like killing the rabbits for a reward? Is it set up like a mission, where you 'start' it, or is it simply "Hey! If you shoot 15 rabbits today you will get a reward." type of thing? The reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering if it might be sort of like missions, where the game actually changes when you start it up. Could you have gotten that many in such a short amount of time because the game set itself up for rabbits? Just curious.
And if it's not like that, keep track of where you got them and go back sometime to see if they have repopulated the area. Because that's what I, and others, seem to be having an issue with.
I too was seeing them all over the place, right after the patch, but now they are rarer than trying to find a trophy/male coyote. Last night I actually passed up a trophy elk, because at its feet were 3 rabbits. I seriously felt lucky to find rabbits.
And this may be a user specific type thing that's going on with "us".
thing is you dont have to hit "start" its all automatic, i have taken a bison and it says go to hunt club to claim your reward, didnt even know that was the animal they had selected. so the hunt club has no impact on spawning.
Good to know. So his rabbits had nothing to do with the game making it easier/harder.
BTW - I've got a list of close to 20 spots/areas where I've taken rabbits that are devoid of rabbits now - and hunting pressure isn't an issue. And I'm not talking specific 10 y/sq plots of land or anything, I'm talking vast areas. I spent several hours in game today just looking for rabbits, and only took the animals that literally crossed my path. I didn't see a single rabbit.
The first few days was awesome. I went to my normal spots and rabbits everywhere. Now it's like I'm hunting unicorns.
