Retrieving Gator Corpses
How in the world am I supposed to get a corpse of a gator? Close up they eventually die and pop to the top and float to the shore but when I hit one semi far out and I know it died because of the pressure mark on the map it is NO where to be found! I see 2 mythical gators I dont want to shoot on the west part of the map because they are far out. They are in a marked need zone but its like 150m out and if they die I have no idea how I could get them.

As I understand it, based on early-access YouTubers, if your shot kills them quickly, they will float to you; but if you don't hit the brain, the neck vertebrae or the heart, they will have time to go deep and die on the bottom. The main advice is, try not to shoot them in deep water and try to hit for a quick kill.

they float to you after dead.

Lost 3 that died this way. One was a level 8. It happens in RL as well. Insta kill they float and if not they may sink and be unrecoverable. I was wondering if the game would mimic RL in this regard and dang it...they did.

I got one just now, a gold, hit him from far (200 m) and shot him in the lungs one time and after waiting a few minutes he float up and came floating all the way to me...so it seems the lungshots work to. Probably he died as a "quick kill" so maybe that did it. The new thing to me is the wait, u get an indication by the hunter pressure color that u killed it and then just wait.

just killed two gators, one of them pretty quick it went from 75% to 25% in a blink of an eye, the other one was two shots, one sure in the lungs, none of them have come out from de depth of the river.

Around Bigham in the middle of the map I hunt gators and no matter what they sink like a rock and you cant get them. Just brain shot one in the middle of the river and watched it die in a second and when I highlighted it saw it sink like a rock and would not bounce up and float so I could get it. Hope they fix this. Makes it impossible to hunt there.

Currently it seems that the carcass are only rendered within 120m so it’s worth waiting for a few minutes to see if it floats toward you.

Or it can be like the ducks and despite killing them, they just never come in. Glitchy crap.

Something else crazy it did. I killed one and it was about 200m away. Got the pressure on the map and the corpse never floated. About 30min later I came back to the area but was on the opposite side of the river and off in the distance theres the corpse bobbing up and down. Ive just stopped hunting them. Seen several diamonds and couldnt do a thing about it.

For the third time in a row I've had animals that died after jumping into the water bob up to the surface and float. 1 was a lion, 1 a puma and the 3rd was a gator. Each time they sank and after 5 RL min without seeing sign of them I began working my way to toward where they had disappeared. Each time I got within 100 meters of where they'd been I saw them floating towards where I'd been standing when I pulled the trigger on them. Makes me wonder if proximity to the death spot somehow triggers them bobbing to the surface and floating.
