Does clothing effect stealth?
Does the type of clothing you wear effect how stealthy you are based on what map you're in? Like if I'm wearing white clothes in a green grassy area, will that make me more visible to animals? I'm trying that and I can hardly ever crouch in a bush and get the white bar. It's always the bar with the half circle under it. Makes sense obviously but is this actually a game mechanic?

Clothes just cosmetic

I hope not, hunting "buck naked", trying to blend. :steamhappy:

Edit: Saw that name used in an old episode of Seinfeld and always wanted to use it.

the back backs add to your noise levels when trying to stalk. dont use them

no camo effect here in CotW, and with the backpacks you do make more noise.

not sure if the Ghilie also increases noise, but to me this is bs anyway.

in reality the animals see different then we do, most dont even see color. but they see movement very well - like a flashing bright light, or uv reflections from the washing/bleaching of our clothes.

in CotW we can use the foliage to hide, not a bad idea, also weather does make you less visable when you add the point into that skill.

so try hiding in a bush or close to a big tree, then youll get the "hidden" line, without the halfcircle

Clothing has zero effect on your sight and sound signature. Backpacks increase your sight and sound signature. The bigger the backpack, the more noise you make and the harder it is to hide in brush. When you get enough levels, sink points into improvised blind. It makes hiding in brush easier and the animals are less likely to spot you. (I have no idea if this offsets the disadvantage that backpacks give you.)

Thing is, that's where the problem is. Sometimes it doesn't give me the hidden bar even if I'm in super thick tall bushes or trees. Even going prone it wont give me the dark small bar. I'd be crouching in dense foliage and it just gives me the bar with the half circle under it and it makes me think the game is just bugged. It didn't do this years back when I got this game. I've played it a ton and this is definitely out of the ordinary.

not so sure, i belive to have read more then once, that it is some how bugged. not every busch does hide you.
can be that certain maps hide you better then otheres, like the sound in Hirschfelden is one bar more for anything you do :/

there are other players here that can confirm that or not. i havent played that much here, mostly with friends in MP.

yeah maps has own sound system for each map, effected by foliage etc.

Seems to be doing the opposite right now. It started raining and I somehow became more visible in the same bush. This is broken.

Hiding in Bushes is useless i think. As soon as you enter a Bush you will make a Sound so loud that your Prey will run away anyways wihout ever seeing you.

Yeah, I even had the skills that reduce visibility in rain and fog, and they seemed pretty worthless. TBH, rain is more annoying than anything and I wish there was an option to turn it off. I would think that in a heavy rain, it would make it harder for animals to hear you. All it does is make it harder to hear them.

Well not hearing them in the rain I can understand. That much is fair but I still think the devs should look into this and make a few tweaks to make it all work better for the player and for the animals. For the most part I'm mainly seeing the struggle to hide anywhere in Hirschfelden. I swear it didn't used to be this hard to hide a few years back when I first got the game.
