I have only weapon from starting game - ranger 243 should I buy ammo to them (for game money)?

The .243 with the Softpoint ammo is not very good. It can kill rabbits, coyotes, and ducks with ease, but takes a perfect shot to kill a deer. Here is a little secret. Get the BOW. By the compound bow and some arrows and use it to kill deer, elk, and moose. Drop the [pistol and the shotgun. You do not need them. You can shoot ducks out of the air just as good with the 243 and much further. The softpoint ammo for the 243 is free so stuck up and hunt little stuff with it until you unlock the Polymer tipped 243 ammo. It has twice the penetration of the softpoint and I kill moose with it all the time. But the Bow is the way to go.

With the right map setup, ducks are pretty great for money. I wouldn't try to farm them out of the air personally. You need a map with good duck blinds/tents.

When it comes to getting levels and money early on, my opinion is that you should adopt a "kill everything" approach. Go to SRP, walk against the wind, and kill everything. A 30-06 helps in this situation. If you don't have the weapon packs for 30-06, I would grind cash and get a 7mm. That gun will take anything from 4-9, which is a great range of animals.

hm, i´m perhaps a bit dumb or lazy or both but i use stock ammo for always all situations and before using expensive small Polymer tip rounds i switch to a higher weapon which still alow to kill the animal. f.e. with the .234 stcok ammo is shoot all class4 animals and depending on map i make good money (Quatro Colinas Moufflon! or Layton whitetail deer)! because rifle ist fast and precise and low recoil !
class 5 depending on range also .234 stock ammo or better Martensson stock ammo at longer range. Martensson is DLC weapon in Reserve Quatro Colinas but it comes with low cost stock ammo (cheaper than the ingame .270!) good for class 4-6.

This use to be a very easy question...It was only poly. But with how they did some reworking of animals and ammo i've been testing soft points and they may be very valid. Been hunting water buffalo and poly tips do ok on them, but i bagged a diamond last night with a soft point. Only hit 1 lung but it dropped after just a few steps.

If you know the rifle will pen and hit at least 1 lung i say use soft points. The bleed rate is insane lol.

the 243 softpoints class 2/6 you need a side shot into the lungs from 150m or less
and preff class2/4 animal if you shoot a lvl6 animal it can be the softpoint wont even get too the lung with a perfect side shot

The 243 polytips you can shoot the animal frontally going for a heartshot.
side shot around 150m it will pen double lung (especially animals from 2/4 class maybe 6 class will be single lung)
300 metershots with the243 polytips will give a single lung hit
But you can even shoot animals like a moose (Sideshot) and get a single lung but be prepared for some long tracking ..although he has a fatal organ hit it will take some time to bleed out from a .243

so my advice is buy 243 politips but not hunderds .
And i dont know if you have any Dlc? if you do try to get a 30.06 as fast as possible.

And if you have the smocking barrel pack Dlc you can buy the Muzzle loader for cheap
and that gun will take everything down (and it has 2 types of bullets so you cover almost every class (except for class 1 and 2).
Andthat rifle its only a 1 shot but i can bet you they go down and fast!

yep ....comes with Cuatro Colinas and fits in that Reserve perfectly ..... 4 animals in class 4 ! But it is more a 3-7 weapon and didnt have the punch of most other 4-8 class rifles; except the .270.

personally i currently use either the 303 or m1 depending on map since they are objectively the current 2 most competent in their class range
