So what would it matter ?
But yeah I've no idea what distance.
All I know is I can hear it.... somewhere.
Nowdays, unless I see the animal I just ignore it.. no idea to start calling unless you KNOW that it is in the callers range.
Benefits:
You can start running towards the call and maybe encounter the animal.
Disadvantages:
Running usually spooks the animal before the range of the caller, so unless you run for 10 seconds and then walk for 20 seconds using the caller. It will take a very long time until you MAYBE can catch up with the animal and NOT spook it, because if you spook it ONCE the caller is useless for about irl 5min (nervous state).
Don't like that you can hear them but they cant hear you.
I have encounter many many times for example when I have spent a good time trying to catch up on the animal, it is calling and calling, I'm in a very good hiding position and start calling and calling (expecting that if I can hear it, It can hear me).... and the animal is 230m away and the caller range is 200m. Do not make any sense to me.
