The best bow is... The basic one?
Hey there.
Been playing bows for a little bit now, using the 70 lb one mostly after the unlocks, because I thought more power would be better but... Wow, the accuracy rating is so low with this one.
I mean... it has a 10 or so accuracy for 70 lb.
The basic bow have 30+ accuracy for 60 lb and the medium bow has same strength but 20 accuracy...

Houyi... 38 accuracy, so logicly the best, and 70 pounds of strength... So even better. But only one type of arrow so considering I almost only hunt small game, I don't really use it that much. Though having no scope makes it fun for when I want to take down a moose or so.
Also, the description in the DLC makes it sound like its the quietest bow in the game. Any-one here who's felt that way? I feel like the bow barely produce any noise above 30-40 meters, but if I'm sure that the houyi only make noise at like 20-30, it might be a great choice once in a while.

What's the deal with all that?

What's your feedback on the different bows?

Thanks.

I thought the “accuracy” rating is how much the weapon sways, not the actual accuracy. Anyway, I found the 70 lb to be the best of the bunch. It's accurate out to 50 m for heart shots (wind permitting) and out to 100 m for lung shots, on medium and big animals. It shoots a bit flatter than the 60 lb's and unlike the Houyi has three arrows that cover the whole range of animals.
For me the Houyi is good out to ~25 m for heart shots and ~50+ m for lung shots, maybe more on bigger animals. Despite a quite flat trajectory, the fact that it doesn't have a sight to aim with penalizes it in my experience, as does the single arrow choice (if you care about integrity). It seems to have a worse accuracy than the 70 lb. You are also restricted to “meat” shots on bigger animals, as shots through bone against moose shoulder blades won't penetrate through, unless it hits right at the edge of the bone, then it might hit a lung. Heart shots from the side kill moose just fine, though (3x100%).
I did notice that when I was shooting boars with the Houyi at 30+ m they didn't flee, after one of them was downed, while they did flee when I shot them with the 70 lb under similar circumstances. So there might be something to how loud various bows are. In practice I try to shoot at 10-30 m, if I can, so the noise created beyond this range is mostly irrelevant for me.

stick with the 70, its the best bow in the game, the trick, for me anyways is to draw them in close and hit them center as they walk towards you, drops em in their tracks. i never do long shots, crossbow is a whole other story and not the same, my basic weapon of choice, if i am not in africa is the 70, thats my primary. can always count on it.

You can get more accuracy with the bow perks as well.

You can stick with the basic bow for a very long time.. Its hard to get the big game like Moose though..

Thats what the 70- 600grain arrows are for.

You should have no truble with a bear with the 60 and the strong arm perks... Helps with the moose too if you have to take them down.

Save some money and wait till you have the option for the 600grain arrows before you get the 70... Just my opinion thought.

Works either way 60 or 70... if you have all the perks you should have no problems with either.
