Wildebeest rating should be diamond?

I'm curious. I got a wildebeest with a rating of 38.8 which according to all wikis I've found should be a diamond since it's over the 37.6 specified most everywhere. But it's not. Am I missing something here?

Maybe you miss the trophy scoring ( place a bad shoot missing a vital organ ), if it is so than you step down one level and the trophy is a Gold

Congrats on a nice animal. This game challenges us to first find a trophy animal and then to kill it while passing all 4 areas of the harvest check. After 3+ yrs playing this game I can no longer make an accurate guess at how many diamonds I've turned into gold. Feel for u.

Aaah, ok. So missing some of the checks does not actually lower the trophy rating but instead just turns a diamond into gold? I always figured missing the checks lowered the trophy rating.

Exactly. The score will still pass the diamond threshold, but a fail on any of the checks will keep it from counting as a diamond
