easiest map to level up on?
I am getting back into this game, I own all the maps (bought the ones I was missing at the summer sale) and am on a new playthrough, what is the easiest map to help me getting the basic starter skills, i'm using layton lake at the moment, I can hear the calls from the animals but I am not finding anything...

or I could just discover all the landmarks on the maps that help too with XP points

yes, discover is one way, but if you want to lvl faster on hunting i would go on the new map rancho del Arroyo ( go for the lakes and find the drink zones - for bigger animals ) and if you want lots of animals go for birds and rabbits

If you need fast money than go on hirch for geese

on both maps you will find a lot of videos that will give to you the best spots

good hunting

yea thats true since that newest map is an open desert it be easier to spot animals, will give that a try

Parts of Rancho are open, but there are a lot of areas of scrub and rolling hills that make for close-up shots, not ranged ones. I haven't yet found the lakes to be hotspots like they are on some of the other maps, but perhaps that's just my luck so far.

I'd say Layton and SRP might be the easiest? Also keep in mind that the missions are a pretty decent way to build XP, though some can be very annoying. Geese on Hirsh are both fun and very lucrative though.

since the last patch Layton is working again, they patched in that the animals are more spread out than on only some locations. So pretty much unless on a quad or running everywhere you will spot animals easily. It's just up to you to make the shot, Just avoid all wooden hunting stands as they are bugged and carry a tripod for a busy need zones.

I switched to Layton this evening after seeing your post about the late patch notes in the twitch stream--Layton is pretty fantastic right now, and excellent sight lines along the two rivers which are quite active.

guess this rancho map is working out for me, the wild turkeys move so slowly when on the ground they make easy targets, just killed a mass of them in 1 spot

and yea rabbits are easy too they stop half way in the middle of chasing them for some reason or just simply sit idle half the time

Te Awaora. Lot of open areas shooting galley for pigs and fallow deers, and some of the most beautyfull rainforests forest for bow hunting sika and red deer. And for a change, goats and chamois in montaigns. Nothing difficult, all doable with starting weapon, and droppable instant with a 4-8 weapon.

Also, the quick main quest in te awaroa give for free the best 4-8 weapon in the game. And you have rabbits and turkey too

Silver Ridge is a shooting gallery. Easy to make money because you can hardly walk 100m without coming across something.

thanks guys I am good now, the turkeys/rabbits seems to be the easiest way to level up

Start on layton do the missions, open all outpost, towers and need zones. There is no rush to level up. Take your time choose your skills and perks wisely. Within a week youll be high enough level to get better guns etc. However the weapons your given free are good throughout the game until you move on to other maps with bigger and more dangerous game. Ducks are great to make lots of money geese too. Also get lots of experience points

Literally the worst advice ever.

Don't do the missions, they're programmed in a way where you have to kill a certain animal in an area where that animal doesn't exist. Or the cliche Medved map where you have to kill the Lynx, but you'll literally have to track it for 30 minutes because the wind is programmed that way.

they fixed the layton spawns so animals are spread out with the dlc, it wasn't in the patch notes, they just told us about it in the last stream so that advice is good

There are also a number of parallel mission branches on the two base-game maps, even if one is challenging, there are many others that are not blocked by that specific mission line.

If you want to wander, there are also the collectibles--I think that's about 10k in experience on each of the two base maps.
