Bloodhound will not Follow Me
I have "Best Friend" status, fed the dog with multiple treats. It is not warning me of a possible spooking of animal (perk). It just won't come when I do "heel"
What is wrong?

Equip bacon in your backpack.

Mine started being retarded today. Just stands around not doing anything and won't find blood when told and stood on top of blood.

I found a fix that consistently worked for me whenever that happened, I just put down my tent and then put the dog in the kennel and then immediately put him back as active and it started working

Yeah I slapped him in the kennel and got him back out and was fine.

Worryingly though, a game reboot didn't fix it.

You have to keep the bond up with it for it to be helpful, the game makes ya do that way too often is why I stopped using mine :/

My dogs tracking will stop after a long track. We get to about 25% animal health and the dogs tracking is worthless

I think my dog is simply fed up with the long treks due to very low blood rate on moose.

I feed mine biscuits constantly. This was a bugged dog, not anything bond related.

Is it the dog or is it the map? I was on Silver Ridge Peaks and in a section of the map the dog stopped responding, nothing I did would get the dog to respond. I went to an outpost, I can't remember if I logged out and logged back in or not but the dog was responding normally. So I went back to that section of the map again and the same thing happened, the dog stopped responding.

I have been on the New England map ever since and there has been no problem with the dog responding. He is max skills and I always try to keep him at Best Friend by praising him. Sounds a bit like Roger Whittaker as we roam around the map but I only give him biscuits for tracking animals.

For anyone unfamiliar with Roger Whittaker, he is the human whistle.

This was 100% the dog. I've had weird areas before where the dog spaz'd out and then teleported to me then being fine.

This was like the dog had no actual clue where i was and wouldn't listen to commands or do anything really other than gaze off into space. I get the dog to best friend when i start a trip and then when you hear that high pitched 'bing' type sound, i pop a praise command and it goes back to BF.

They do totally need to change the length at which the dog stays in BF though as it's far too short, or increase it based on level. My dogs 28 i think and i would say i have to whistle every 5 minutes max.

When things like this happens; try in-game to reset things as much as possible - in a way that objects are respawned. Send the dog to the Kennel and pick it up again. Pitch a tent and sleep. Empty loadout and re-equip. Chances are you've run into a bug that needs a soft reset.

Far too many bugs that are left to the player to remedy, loads of this stuff should have been patched ages ago.

Well, considering I have only had to do this kind of thing once or twice during the past 2 years, it's not a big deal. For me. But, you are right, in an optimal world all bugs should've been crushed. I also know that complex games like this one leaves various experiences due to the infinite number of systems/configs out there...

My tip was to inform on workarounds while waiting for patches.

That or your dog may be deaf. My dog is deaf and I have to use a kind of sign language with him.

Lol, you're a little bit too immersed Dopa!!!

Patches that never come :D

My biggest gripe is the audio desync issue. Having visual and audible clues not coming from the same place is a huge issue considering that's 90% of actually hunting.
