Problem solved.
Updates are free, any new animals added are free... Only new content in the form of weapon packs, reserves and now a trophy lodge are obviously paid DLC.
And for a very reasonable price in my opinion.
[edit] In a way, even reserves are free as you can play on them without owning them in multiplayer.
You need to take into consideration that :
a) You didn't pay AAA price for the base COTW game, so each optional DLC's enhanced the game, like an AAA would, while, as many of us, enjoyed the base game as it is, just like an AAA game.
b) AAA games also have paid DLC's increasing furthermore the total price.
c) Not like AAA game makers, COTW seem commited to improve the game over the years, and you optionnaly paying for this. You like a DLC, you pay a small price. You don't like a DLC, you don't pay for it.
d) Many AAA game makers abandon their game months after release. They are busy working on the next same game with slightly improved feature that they gonna make you pay AAA price for it.
e) as hunting games, what are your alternatives? Really? We've been plagued with (bad) arcade hunting game for years and years. COTW may not be perfect (far from it), but it's a good hunting game, you have to admit that.
So it all come down to this. Is the price you are paying is worth the fun the game brings you? For me it is. For others, it might be a different story.
PS if you get the Call of the Wild - Head Start Bundle every time there is a new DLC you save some money on it. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3745/theHunter_Call_of_the_Wild__Head_Start_Bundle_Limited_time_offer/
🤦♂️
Right now with the 2019 bundle is actually about 40 USD.
This is the best model a Developer can offer to be able to give new content for many years and I'm glad that is working for COTW.
P.s. i look your profile and now i understand why u do this post!
But it is not part of the game that you actually need to play and enjoy the game; it is entirely optional. I paid more for lunch today than for the Trophy Lodge DLC, so it is hardly expensive, even if it was truly necessary to have.
You can walk across most of the maps, as long as you don't stop to hunt, etc., in about 20-30 minutes. Or you can take the time to explore and hunt and enjoy it. You don't need the ATV at all, though they are fun. Just walk to the next outpost and unlock it. It is worth the trip.
If you are worried about Day 1 Bugs, don't update until they release a patch for those bugs.
If you don't want new content, don't buy it; the base game is perfectly fun. Or play some other game. People who work hard on something deserve to be paid for their work.
