7mm penetration on Moose
Are you able to get double lungs with the 7mm on a moose at all? Twice now I have shot it broadside and I only got one lung. One shot was at 30 meters and the other at 77 meters. I don't understand. I know I had a slight angle but could it really affect it that bad?

Edit : I'm using polymer bullets as well.

Try near the top of the lungs @ 90* broadside.
Any angle might net only a single lung.

Or just wait for a heart shot for a quick kill.
Tho' these Moose are super moose on steroids. Lol

The closer the better.

yes no probs there with 7mm, as long as you have the shot of cause, buffs, red deer, ,just wait for them to turn off then call to hold the side on shot or just wait, the turn to move off and hold a side shot for a few seconds if you still and silent

Could try aiming higher and a bit more forward as cbrrrman said. Closer to the spine = closer the lungs come together. In theory that should require less penetration but whether or not the game accounts for that is a different story. I've had no problems with the 7mm and 9.3 on moose, but that's the largest animal I'd confidently take with them.

The more angle involved the less likely you will get a dbl lung shot on a moose, elk or gemsbok using the 7mm. The .338 does the job nicely.

The .338 is now the more effective gun for moose since the weapons pack update. For more double lungs with the 7mm now you have to aim for the top of the lungs and gettin closer now helps with that. The 7mm is not the go to weapon now.

use the penetratable ammo, polemyr tip

You can, aim high (to the point that you risk vertebrae) and you'll get double lung. You won't get 100% quick kill though, you need heart if you want that.
