Hope #6
I need help with this mission. I can not find a single Black tail deer in the kraken rope bridge area. I have even searched the outskirts of the area and still no black tail. I have been sitting by this bridge for about 8 IRL hours and have only seen one moose and one bear. I have seen 1 black tail deer but it was too close to me, walked behind some trees and vanished. This is starting to really frustrate me. How am I supposed to complete the quest if I am not even getting a spawn? I tried scaring Blacktail towards the area but they all seem to vanish as soon as we get into the zone. Any one have any recommendations or ideas?

I know they changed the mission requirement for the Cheela lake mission so that either a Black Tail or Whitetail deer would do. It's been awhile since I completed this Kraken Rope mission so maybe they changed that as well. Anyway, here's how I've gone about it in the past: I went down in the marshy area not too far from the bridge. There's one of those pay to build it stands down there. I didn't build it, it's just where I went down into the scrub tree and marsh area. Then I crept along the tree line leading towards the waterway that flows under the bridge. I didn't start swinging in towards cliff as I went. At about 0700 the deer drink on the far side of water area so it's fairly easy to move around and adjust the distance to them in order to meet the mission requirement. Another way is to get down there along that water and look up towards the bridge. You'll notice there's a rock cliff on each side. Scan along the top of the clff on the right side of the bridge. Black Tails like to bed down up there and it's possible to pick one off. BTW...never ever never waste time sitting in one spot for even one RL hour. Animals may not be using the same need zone each and every day. The Kraken Rope Bridge mission is one of those where the targeted species doesn't seem to be in the area every game day. The morning drinking time ends around 0800-0830 and the next such period when you might spot a deer happens somewhere between noon and 1400.
Lastly, a deer can hear you walking at 100 meters and running at 150 or more so it's time to go slow and go low when you approach a need zone. Hope this helps.

It took me a long time to complete this mission. I tried waiting for a Blacktail to trot through the lower river area to the east, but no luck, just lots of whitetails. I did once manage to push a blacktail from the dense wooded area sw of the bridge, up past the bridge, and down into the river plain, but then ended up shooting it at less than 200m. Doh!!

What ended up happening for me was that I found a Blacktail rest zone just across the bridge, on the north side of the bridge to the left of the path. There was one blacktail that would rest there. Now the problem was to be able to get 200m away. I scouted out areas with a limited view of the rest zone, and was able to place a tree stand 200+ meters away. I had a limited shot view of the blacktail, somewhat obscured by branches, but I was able to get the shot and kill.

It took weeks to complete this mission, and lots of time spent in that area. There is very little area where you can get 200+ sight distance, and there is no reliable traffic pattern for blacktails in that area.

Just another complete TROLL mission, where the devs have given us near impossible tasks of hunting something that doesn't spawn in that area. The missions really are quite ridiculous. If you have to hunt something in a specific area, you can trust that there are no animals of that type to be found there.

Been trying this mission for over a week. Sitting in different spots in the open areas where a 200 m shot can be taken. No whitetail, no blacktail. Just a few moose a boat load of worthless rabbits and 1 bear. F this mission and F the devs for this. Completely and totally unacceptable. Why make a mission where it cant be completed??? F this.

You have to keep in mind that most of the missions in Layton and Hirsch are complete TROLL missions.

Go harvest a deer, go harvest a deer at night, harvest it with a handgun, harvest it in an area where it doesn't spawn at 200M, with one hand tied behind your back, harvest a moose with your hands while hopping on one foot, etc....

So, basically, don't obsess over any one mission.

On the Hope 6, try some different tactics. Start in the SW of the marked area, find a blacktail track and follow it, and hope you can push it to the clear area in the NE. Try and find the blacktail rest zones, north of the bridge. This means you need to go walking around that area in the afternoon, once they have had a chance to rest and mark out the area.

Ive tried all of this. Im so angry right now about it I could spit. Why even have the damn mission if you cant comlpete it? If you arent going to spawn at least one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deer in the mission area then you shouldnt have it as a mission. I want to whip the devs with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wetr noodle!

The guy narrating the quests to you sounds like he mainlines mountain dew. Of course some of the quests arent going to work

Cross the Bridge and
Head into to the rocky area on the left low and slow.
I see them pretty regularly back in there
I also see them cross the trail right after the bridge heading to the low lands on the right.
They are in that area

I completed the mission by setting up a tent along the hill on the south side of the bridge with a tripod stand beside it. Then scared a group of blacktail into the marsh area below and I fast traveled back to my tent, got into the stand and shot one.

while standing on the bridge i looked and found a copse of trees about north east from me near the water, it was near the quest boundary so i put up a tripod there and marked the range to 200 meters with the range finder and the map marker, just needed to sneak up and follow a deer until it got to the tripod where i hopped up onto it and used the whistle command to get it moving to the 200 meter range marker

Im pretty sure this mission is near impossible at this point. After literal days of trying to find a blacktail zone anywhere near this area I broke down and "cheated". Using DECA I saw that the closest blacktail spawn was over 2.5km away! So unless youre willing to drive the deer that far its simply not happening.

That's pretty much what I had to do. Needed to do that for an Elk mission too. Frustrating to say the least having to spend hours just luring animals halfway across the map. Some of the least fun experiences I have had playing the game.

The day before the recent map was released I was hunting the Kraken Rope Bridge area and saw several Black Tails just before dark. Went back the next game day morning (0530 hrs) and saw a Blacktail piebald doe and an albino doe (which I hadn't seen the night before). I also saw 4 Blacktails mixed in with 8 Whitetails drinking not too far from the actual bridge itself. It's possible that those deer were killed off by the devs with the recent update or simply "moved" elsewhere. In hopes that they still exist, here's some info:

There were a few Black tails (and Whitetails) that traveled back and forth through the woods along the water between the Roon Outpost and the KRB area. Used to be those deer would have zones in the open areas along the water but the devs "improved" our hunting experience by moving most of the need zones into cover. That makes the missions 200 meter shot requirement a lot more difficult than it used to be. As crazy as it sounds, it's far easier to get within 50 meters and see a deer in the KRB area than it is to see one 200 meters away. IMO when they moved the need zones into dense cover they should have adjusted the distance requirement for this mission or done away with it entirely.

I just spend the last two days trying to find some Blacktails on KRB, but it did not happen, not even a track. quite disapointing imho.
